Boxer Floyd Mayweather has a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning to face a battery charge resulting from a Nov. 15 incident with a security officer in his Southern Highlands neighborhood.

Mayweather was charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly poking the security guard's cheekbone with his finger during a confrontation about illegally parked cars outside the boxer's home.

The security officer drove away from the scene to de-escalate the situation, then notified his boss and authorities, according to the warrant. When police arrived at Mayweather's residence to question him, he refused to come out and speak with officers.

Police recommended the battery charge based on interviews with the security officer and photographs taken of his cheekbone immediately after the incident, which allegedly show redness and discoloration, according to the warrant.

Mayweather skipped a Nov. 9 court hearing regarding charges he faces for a dispute with his former girlfriend in September. He is due back in court Jan. 24 on those charges.
