Woman, 78, killed in two-vehicle crash in south valley identified

A woman in a white Nissan Maxima was killed Sunday when the car and a black Dodge pickup truck collided, Metro Police said.

A 78-year-old Las Vegas woman who died after two vehicles collided Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Eastern and Serene avenues in the southern valley has been identified as Ferro Concetta, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Lt. Ted Snodgrass said the accident involving a black 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck and a white 1995 Nissan Maxima happened at 3:07 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Serene Avenue.

Police said the Nissan Maxima turned left across the westbound lanes of Serene Avenue and was hit by the Dodge Ram.

Concetta, who was driving the Maxima, was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where she was pronounced dead, Snodgrass said. The 38-year-old man driving the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, police said.

The accident is under investigation. It is the 74th fatal traffic accident in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
