Why are the Arts on the rise in Vegas?
When the Strip moved from $1 buffets toward lavish hotels, elaborate Cirque du Soleil productions and high-class shopping, so too came the introduction of valuable works of art. The Bellagio, Wynn Las Vegas and the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum inside the Venetian all boast galleries of art which are as impressive as they are expensive.
Similarly, the 18-block arts district in downtown Las Vegas has been steadily rising in popularity. A monthly block party called First Friday has played a major part in fostering a new appreciation for the arts in the area. The City of Henderson hosts a similar event, called Third Thursday, in its arts district.
