While some condo-hotel investors are having problems because of the economy, Mike Gutierrez is one of the more satisfied owners. Gutierrez has owned a one-bedroom unit at Platinum for more than a year and is one of more than 2,000 such owners using and renting condo-hotel units near the Strip. Most days his one-bedroom condo is rented to tourists. At any time, he can remove his unit from the property's rental program, reserving it for personal use for up to 65 days each year. A locked closet in the living room holds personal belongings and goodies for his extended family, who frequently come to town.
