After three days of competition in the 2013 Rubik’s Cube World Championships at the Riviera, Feliks Zemdegs of Australia was crowned the new champion on Sunday, and contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was onsite for the intense contest.

There were 15 events and 575 competitors from 37 countries from Friday through Sunday, and Zemdegs, in an orange hoodie, was victorious, completing his 3x3 Rubik’s cube in 8.18 seconds.

Some competitors really put their feet into it, as in completing Rubik’s cubes with their feet, as Donoghue’s photographs show. Meantime, it’s possible that this journalist has never completed a Rubik’s cube in his lifetime — with hands or feet.
