Wicked whispers and racy rumors!
I am hearing first chatter about a possible mini-residency here by England’s resilient Spice Girls. Singers Mel B (Scary Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) are said to be leading the charge to get the other Girls on board as they weigh possible venue offers. Mel was one of the first stars in “Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood, so could she return “home” with fellow Spicers in tow to take the stage of the new PH Live theater when Britney Spears is off duty?
It’s difficult to believe that next year would mark the group’s 20th anniversary, so timing for a reunion would be appropriate if only Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) would agree.
Which leads us to her handsome hunk of a husband, soccer superstar David Beckham. His company, Beckham Ventures, has just partnered with Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands Corp. (Venetian and Palazzo). Nobody’s saying if their agreement means that he will become a boutique hotelier under Sheldon’s umbrella in Asia or if his brand would turn up here on the Strip.
“The partnership is based around the development of dining, retail and leisure concepts at Sands China properties in Singapore and Macau,” I was told. It is already a big deal confirmed by CEO Michael Leven: “The odds are extremely high that partnerships with David Beckham will help us further the efforts to grow and sustain our brands over time.
“We have billions of dollars invested in our own global iconic brands. We are very excited about the partnership, and we fully expect it to grow in the years to come, especially as we aggressively explore opportunities to further expand our presence in Asia.”
David himself commented: “The Sands team has created amazing resorts. The scale, vision and caliber in all that they do is impressive. I am very excited to be working with them to develop a range of new business ideas in a part of the world that I love spending time in and is full of optimism and growth. Perhaps it’s time to make my move into hotels.”
Just last month, David, who retired from soccer in May, said he has looked at Miami to team up with Miami Heat superstar LeBron James to bring a new Major League Soccer team to Florida. “Being an owner of a team is something I’m passionate about, and I’m passionate about staying in football,” the former L.A. Galaxy player told his fans on Facebook.

In the spirit of Venice, The Venetian is a little piece of romantic Italy right here in Las Vegas. The Venetian is an "all-suite" hotel, with rooms accented with plush linens and Italian marble. The 4,027 suites are divided into two towers: The 36-story Venetian Tower that offers guests a taste of luxurious Las Vegas and the Venezia suites, which guarantee 12 floors of high-end elegance. The top five floors are the hotel's highest level of luxury with its private access, concierge lounge, upgraded features and even a dedicated staff.
The flagship of Venetian nightlife is TAO, an ultra-hip nightclub located inside of TAO Asian Bistro. V Bar is The Venetian's super smooth ultra lounge, made by the owners of New York City's club Lotus and Los Angeles' super swank Sunset Room.
The Venetian features 19 restaurants including Thomas Keller's award-winning French restaurant Bouchon, Mario Batali's B&B Ristorante, Aquaknox for fresh seafood and the 42,000 square foot TAO Asian Bistro. There's also the food court inside the Canal Shoppes for those looking for a quick bite.
Guests can float along The Grand Canal Shops in an authentic Italian gondola ride and pass stores like Burberry and Kenneth Cole along the way. And if you haven't caught a real celeb, on the street in Vegas, you can head over to Madame Tussauds to check out a wax version.
