Country queen Shania Twain has shot a beautiful and heartwarming program about her love for horses for the new cable TV network HRTV for horse sports, and Vegas DeLuxe readers can get an advance look at the segment with lovely “10” actress Bo Derek before it airs at HRTV.com.
Shania reveals the incredible concentration it takes to keep the horses calm and focused while she’s singing onstage to them during her resident show “Still the One” at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace.
Molly McGill of HRTV told me: “We first became aware of Shania having horses in her show when we saw her first commercial announcing ‘Still the One’ at Caesars Palace. The commercial showed a bellman leading ‘her’ horse through the lobby as she checked in. We wanted to show a side of Shania that all horse lovers could relate to: There is nothing more special than the connection a girl and her horse can have.
“We interviewed Shania and her trainer Ramon Becerra back in May. As the story grew, we reached out to Bo Derek, who agreed to do an interview with us. Shania’s entire team was extremely helpful through the editing process, providing us with photos, videos and answering any questions we had.”
Filming with the horses also took Shania to Bo’s California home. You can watch HRTV on AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Dish Network. And here’s a sneak peek at the video on Videmo.
GREAT SANTA STRUGGLE: The battle for our Opportunity Village to maintain its hold on the Guinness World Record for “Most Santas in One Place” has become a transatlantic war. Officials in Liverpool, England, reported thousands of uniformed Santas turned out in record numbers this weekend when our O.V. officials were there to challenge them. Their runners included Olympic athletes, soccer players, entertainers and TV stars for the 10th anniversary run.
“Liverpool is determined to reclaim the crown from us,” O.V. director Linda Smith told me. “We have our work cut out for us. We held on to the title last year with over 9,000, but I fear this year we have to top 12,000 and more. “
Santa-suit and race-number pickup starts Tuesday and continues through Thursday. Details: LasVegasSantaRun.org. Linda added: “With last-minute support, we are very confident that we will win this year and keep the title in Las Vegas! Both cities will reveal their running numbers on the stage in the U.S., but I hope the Liverpool losers don’t end up in the Bellagio Fountains.
“Both cities are stretching our hands across the globe this festive period, and I hope that other countries can follow our annual Santa challenge to raise money for those causes that need our help and support.”

Transport yourself to the opulent and excessive Roman Empire at Caesars Palace. But the ever-changing Caesars Palace is far from ancient. The hotel and casino is constantly raising the bar for what visitors can expect in a Vegas resort experience.
Caesars Palace features 3,348 rooms and suites in five towers, including the new luxury boutique Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, which opened Feb. 4, 2013, in the totally remodeled Centurian Tower. Caesars features 129,000 square feet of gaming space, including the Strip’s largest poker room and a 250-seat sports book. Other amenities include about two dozen restaurants, a four-level shopping mall, four pools, a spa, Pure and Poetry nightclubs and Pussycat Dolls.
Dining options include restaurants from world-renown chefs Guy Savoy, Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsay and, on Feb. 4, 2013, Nobu Matsuhisa.
You never know what characters you’ll run into at Caesars with regular performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Bette Midler, Elton John and maybe even the emperor himself.
Catering to the young and modern crowd, Planet Hollywood is a one-stop shop for entertainment with its massive shopping mall, slew of restaurants, spacious casino and clubs.
The ambiance of the casino is retro-chic meets high-tech with black granite floors throughout and colorful LED lights throughout the space. The theme carries into the 100,000 square-foot casino with 250 flat screens topping off slot machines. The casino is also home to 87 tables, a sports book and a poker room.
There's also the Miracle Mile Shops, one Vegas' largest malls, with 140 stores including BCBG Max Azaria, bebe, Urban Outfitters and The Discovery Channel Store.
Following an afternoon of shopping, guests can satisfy their appetites at one of the gourmet restaurants in Planet Hollywood, like the non-traditional approach to steakhouses at Strip House or check out the exotic Far East motif at KOI restaurant and lounge. And if guests are still looking for more, they can spend the after hours at Privé, Triq or Krave nightclubs.
Perhaps one of the resorts biggest attractions came in March with the addition of "Peepshow." The naughty twist on the story of Little Bo Peep is modern-day spin on the run-of-the-mill Vegas topless review. The "Peepshow" stage has seen visiting celebs like Scary Spice Mel B, "Dancing with the Stars" Kelly Monaco and Playboy's Holly Madison.
