Expect a collision between paparazzi and teen-beat pop fans this weekend when two sets of heartthrobs get flashbulbs a-popping.
First up is The Wanted at Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas — be sure to read our Senior Editor Don Chareunsy’s Q+A with Max George of the British boyband, the second British boyband invasion in a week. (Last weekend, Harry Styles and One Direction were here for extended playtime.)
Photographers, however, will be keeping a very close eye on The Jonas Brothers at Mandalay Bay. Not for Kevin Jonas and Danielle, his wife of four years, and their upcoming baby, nor Joe Jonas. They’ll be on high alert to see if 2012 Miss Universe Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island will be with Nick Jonas, who delights in tweeting photos of himself shirtless. (Neil Patrick Harris has tweeted back his approval!)
Olivia and Nick met at the 2013 Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood in June when he sang and co-hosted. Olivia told me before they met that she was single and available. They’ve since been spotted kissing and holding hands on dates and were seen exiting his New York apartment together. Olivia makes no secret of her affection for Las Vegas, so this might well be one of those magical weekends. Incidentally, I never knew that Nick was diagnosed with diabetes when he was just 13.
There also will be much attention given to Claire Sinclair, who now with 100 “Pin Up” shows under her garter belt at Stratosphere has won her battle to go almost totally topless. Alterations to the 2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year’s wardrobe will give audiences far more than just a peek at what is behind her bustier. In fact, it will be just stick-on pasties covering perky points, with 100 tiny Swarovski crystals leaving very little to the imagination. The curves get their reveal starting Saturday.
It’s nice to welcome back home Boyz II Men to the Mirage from their touring schedule to continue their residency through year’s end. As they told me in a recent interview, they now have to quickly make a decision about signing an extension contract to take them into 2014. If I was a betting man, I’d put good money down that they will continue to call Las Vegas home. They love being here, and the crowds love them as much as our florists who supply all those give-away roses.
Hometown hero Ne-Yo is the weekend’s star attraction at the Palms, and don’t be surprised if you see photos of him with superstar singer and Caesars Palace headliner Celine Dion. They became good friends and collaborators since co-writing “I Got Nothing Left” on her album “Taking Chances.” Now they’ve recorded their first duet for Celine’s new English-language album “Loved Me Back to Life” out Oct. 21, as we reported on Wednesday.
Both are here this music weekend, which runs the gamut from Toni Braxton and Kool and The Gang to The Monkees and The Kingston Trio.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas dares to be different. From the hotel’s red reservations desks to fine art found throughout the resort, The Cosmopolitan’s signature style is helping to pave its own path on the Las Vegas Strip.
Upon entering the resort, you’re greeted by pillars of video boards playing video art by Digital Kitchen and David Rockwell Studio exclusively produced for The Cosmopolitan. Just beyond that, you’ll find all your favorite casino games on the resort’s 100,000-square-foot casino floor.
The Cosmopolitan’s rooms standout as the resort’s most unique feature. About 2,220 of The Cosmopolitan’s 2,995 rooms have 6-foot deep terraces that span the length of the room, a first at a modern Strip hotel. Other in-room amenities include soaking tubs, kitchenettes and quirky accessories like artsy coffee table books.
The dining experience at The Cosmopolitan isn’t something you’ll find at other Strip resorts, either. All of The Cosmopolitan’s 13 restaurateurs are new to the Las Vegas market. You’ll find American steakhouse fare in a modern setting at STK, top-notch sushi at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill and the freshest fish flown in from the Mediterranean daily at Estiatorio Milos.
Whether the sun is up or down, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub is the place to find the party at The Cosmopolitan. The venue is a dayclub/nightclub, complete with a pool and cabanas outside and three different rooms with three different vibes inside.
If nightclubs aren’t your thing, you can grab a drink at one of The Cosmopolitan’s five other bars, like The Chandelier, which is encased in 2 million dripping crystals.
