Lovelace premiere at Planet Hollywood
A sex-fueled Hollywood movie premiere in the middle of a hot summer’s Las Vegas Sunday afternoon? Add in the fact that the film is about controversial “Deep Throat” porn princess Linda Lovelace, and you have a recipe for one of the most unusual and unique red carpets Sin City has ever witnessed.
Thanks to sexy screen sensations Amanda Seyfried and Sharon Stone, who star in “Lovelace,” they carried it off with cool-as-a-cucumber glamour. Planet Hollywood hosted the Las Vegas premiere of “Lovelace” on Sunday, with Amanda and Sharon joined by co-star Cory Hardrict, directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman and producer Heidi Jo Markel.
Others attendees included Cory’s wife, actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict; “Voices” at Bally’s headliner Veronic DiCaire; “Peepshow” stars Josh Strickland and Cheaza; “Pin Up” at Stratosphere beauty Claire Sinclair; actor Ron Pritchard; and producer Avi Lerner. Holly Madison was expected, but nobody spotted her, so she could have snuck into her former theatrical home just for the screening.
Contributing videographer Richard Corey, whose video of the arrivals is posted on YouTube, told me it was an appropriate venue for the film’s premiere, as Las Vegas plays host every January to AVN Awards and Adult Entertainment Expo.
Glamour gals Sharon and Amanda dazzled photographers at the screening of the biopic, which hits theaters, On Demand and iTunes nationwide this Friday. Planet Hollywood President David Hoenemeyer introduced the “Lovelace” team, who addressed the audience before the film. Sharon said that she loved traveling here to see shows and added that she enjoys playing a little blackjack.
“Lovelace” is the true story of fame, abuse and betrayal set against the sexual revolution of the 1970s. Amanda plays the leading role of the blonde phenomenon and her amazing oral gymnastics. Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Wes Bentley, Adam Brody, Bobby Cannavale, James Franco, Debi Mazar, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick, Eric Roberts, Chloe Sevigny and Juno Temple join Sharon and her in the all-star cast.
In 1972 — before the Internet and porn explosion — “Deep Throat” was a phenomenon, the first scripted, pornographic theatrical feature film, and with an unknown and unlikely star, Linda Lovelace. The film is credited for the incredible explosion of the billion-dollar porn industry.
Escaping a strict religious family, Linda discovered freedom and the high life when she fell for and married charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor (Sarsgaard). She became an international sensation and an enthusiastic spokeswoman for sexual freedom and uninhibited hedonism. Six years later, she presented another contradictory narrative to the world — as the survivor of a far darker story of coercion, blackmail and violence.
Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl, who flew in from L.A., where his British soccer team Everton is on tour playing a series of U.S. soccer exhibition matches, organized the Sunday afternoon premiere.
“The premieres we present in Las Vegas prove very popular and highly successful, and we’ve got many more to come in the future,” he told me.

Catering to the young and modern crowd, Planet Hollywood is a one-stop shop for entertainment with its massive shopping mall, slew of restaurants, spacious casino and clubs.
The ambiance of the casino is retro-chic meets high-tech with black granite floors throughout and colorful LED lights throughout the space. The theme carries into the 100,000 square-foot casino with 250 flat screens topping off slot machines. The casino is also home to 87 tables, a sports book and a poker room.
There's also the Miracle Mile Shops, one Vegas' largest malls, with 140 stores including BCBG Max Azaria, bebe, Urban Outfitters and The Discovery Channel Store.
Following an afternoon of shopping, guests can satisfy their appetites at one of the gourmet restaurants in Planet Hollywood, like the non-traditional approach to steakhouses at Strip House or check out the exotic Far East motif at KOI restaurant and lounge. And if guests are still looking for more, they can spend the after hours at Privé, Triq or Krave nightclubs.
Perhaps one of the resorts biggest attractions came in March with the addition of "Peepshow." The naughty twist on the story of Little Bo Peep is modern-day spin on the run-of-the-mill Vegas topless review. The "Peepshow" stage has seen visiting celebs like Scary Spice Mel B, "Dancing with the Stars" Kelly Monaco and Playboy's Holly Madison.
