"Iron Chef" culinary king Masaharu Morimoto will announce tonight that he'll open a restaurant at The Mirage.
The Food Network superstar will be honored with the Dom Perignon Award of Excellence at the 39th annual UNLVino "Sake Fever" celebration poolside at The Mirage.
I'm reliably told that after the presentation, he will then announce his new contract with The Mirage resort executives (I tweeted the news this morning).
Contracts were to be signed this morning before a celebration lunch with all parties involved.
Morimoto's timeline and details of the restaurant are unknown, but I'm also reliably told that he will be taking over Japonais there.
We first revealed the rumors back in September, but, at the time, Mirage executives denied the rumblings.
The 57-year-old Hiroshima-born chef has starred on "Iron Chef" and "Iron Chef America" and was in Las Vegas in December as one of the judges of the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant at Planet Hollywood.
He has restaurants in New York, Philadelphia, Florida and Mumbai, India.
