NBA superstar Michael Jordan was so thrilled with the success of his golf tournament here this month that he’s already looking forward to next year’s return. MGM CityCenter chiefs and Shadow Creek executives have told him that he’s more than welcome to return for a fourth consecutive year to Aria and the high-roller golf course, respectively.
We’re delighted to share these official photos from the 2013 Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational golf tournament by contributing photographer Tom Donoghue that were just approved by Michael, who has been busy preparing for his April 27 Florida wedding to Yvette Prieto, who was with him in Las Vegas.
But Michael did find time today to use funds raised here for his Charlotte Bobcats charity. The team unveiled a Book Bus that will travel the county year round giving away books at schools and in summer literacy programs. Michael promises to give away at least 6,000 books a year.
When he returned to Charlotte from Las Vegas, Michael announced that the Bobcats charity also was donating $200,000 to the YMCA Y Achievers program, plus, $50,000 in scholarships for students at three area high schools. As majority owner of the team, he says he plans to rebuild its reputation for philanthropy.
