Oscar winner Shirley Jones will be honored by Variety, the Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, at Oscar Night Las Vegas. Officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Oscar Night Las Vegas is Feb. 25-26, celebrates the 84th Academy Awards and benefits Variety, which is dedicated to providing services for children with special needs.

Jones, who won the 1961 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for “Elmer Gantry,” and her actor, comedian and theatrical agent husband Marty Ingels will be the guests of honor at a reception hosted by Variety on Feb. 25 at the Palms.

Oscar Night Las Vegas features free and ticketed events at citywide locations, including a fashion show at Fashion Show, a celebrity welcome reception at the Palms, celebrity red carpet arrivals and theater viewing of the live Oscars telecast at Brenden Theaters, gourmet dining at Oscar Night Las Vegas official restaurants and the official Oscar Night After-Party at the Playboy Club.

“Oscar Night is an event meant to be shared with others. This is a natural extension of that experience,” said AMPAS CEO Dawn Hudson in a news release. “We are thrilled to be able to celebrate the movies with fans nationwide.”

Since 1993, AMPAS has sponsored Oscar viewing parties nationwide as part of its grassroots outreach program to benefit local charities. Last year, 51 charities hosted viewing parties for the 83rd Oscars, raising more than $3.5 million.

“With an estimated 1 billion-plus Academy Awards viewers in more than 200 countries, Oscar Night Las Vegas also has the potential to attract movie fans worldwide to visit Las Vegas on Academy Awards weekend,” said Clinton Ford Billups Jr., Oscar Night Las Vegas executive producer.
