It’s the perfect example of brains and beauty! This year, the 2012 Miss America Pageant princesses are wearing today’s modern styles, and that means higher heels and shorter skirts that are sequined and sassy.
“But they are still classy,” said one of the retail fashion consultants for Express who worked with the contestants at the weekend Fashion Show runway presentation.
“Our fashion show proves they can still be brainy and beautiful. It’s definitely a hotter look than in previous years, with today’s styles, brighter makeup, longer eyelashes and dazzling hairdos, but all still dignified and classy. That’s most important over everything else.”
DINNER AT BUCA DI BEPPO
The 53 Miss America contestants are slim, trim and physically fit, but when it comes to pasta and pizza, they can eat like the rest of us. After a long day of TV show rehearsals, learning dance steps and then modeling in the Express Fashion Show, it was time to relax at Buca di Beppo.
They’d burned enough calories from the busy day that they needed to refuel with the traditional Italian taste treats. For Buca owner hotel mogul Robert Earl, it also was an opportunity to add to the restaurant chain’s collection of marinara handprint acrylics. Each state pageant queen sunk her hands into a bowl of the sauce and then made the handprint on canvas with matching autograph.
2012 Miss South Carolina Bree Boyce posed with a giant ice cream sundae -- that she politely refused to prove that she’s serious about her 112-pound weight loss that enabled her to enter the pageant at 119 pounds.
“I lost a complete other me,” Bree said proudly. We’ll have a full and amazing interview with her posted here at Vegas DeLuxe later.
Our continued thanks to Tom Donoghue for his photo galleries as the countdown continues to Saturday’s 91st pageant at Planet Hollywood airing on ABC. Thanks also to Christopher Rauschnot @24kMedia on Twitter for his videos posted on YouTube.
