The first week of the New Year is over, and celebrities continue to frolic in the platinum playground that is Las Vegas. Drake, who performed at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel on New Year’s Day, dined with friends at Lavo in the Palazzo while in town. A table away, Margot Robbie from ABC’s “Pan Am” wrapped up her first visit to Las Vegas with girlfriends enjoying cocktails and the Italian eatery’s Kobe meatballs.
Marquee Dayclub and Nightclub at the Cosmopolitan celebrated its year anniversary with DJ Avicii manning the wheels of steel for celebrity guests including Paris Hilton and Grammy Award winner DJ Afrojack. Three of the hotspot’s partners, Noah Tepperberg, Jason Strauss and Louis Abin, were presented with an anniversary cake as sexy stilt walkers twirled around the venue. While in town, Avicii attended Blue Man Group at the Venetian.
Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and cast members of Showtime’s hit series “Gigolos” were at my pal reality TV show producer Marklen Kennedy’s birthday bash at the new Hyde Bellagio after his feast at Sirio Maccioni’s adjoining Circo.
“Jersey Shore” star Snooki and boyfriend Jionni LaValle had a romantic dinner at Nove Italiano at the Palms, while “Private Practice” star Taye Diggs celebrated his birthday downstairs at N9NE Steakhouse. Taye also dined on the patio at Chef Todd English’s Olives at the Bellagio and with actress wife Idina Menzel watched “Absinthe” at Caesars Palace, where they posed with the cast after the show. Also at N9NE: soccer star Jozy Altidore and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino at separate tables, while “American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe was at the Playboy Club.
Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her astronaut husband Mark Kelly met Celine Dion backstage after her show at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace. Dr. Drew Pinsky attended Criss Angel’s “Believe” at the Luxor and visited the Magician of the Century backstage afterward . Also at the show: Jonathan Davis of Korn. Retired MLB player turned Las Vegas regular Jose Canseco watched the Beatles’ “Love” at the Mirage.
Singer Nicki Minaj and Chef Tyler Florence were at neighboring tables at Chef Wolfgang Puck’s Spago at Caesars Palace. Four-time NBA all-star and Olympic gold medalist Spencer Haywood dined at Greens & Proteins and showed his 1979-80 season L.A. Lakers championship ring to owners John Kinney and Jeff Kovatch.
“Fear Factor” host and UFC commentator Joe Rogan dined at Chef Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak at MGM Grand. Singer Brandy dined at Tao in the Venetian with beau Ryan Presson. Also there separately, singer Natasha Bedingfield and Margot Robbie. DJ Benny Benassi headlined as Insomniac took over Tao for the Halfway to Electric Daisy Carnival edition of the Worship party. The Hung Over and Broke party at sister nightspot Lavo was hosted by Kreayshawn, who sang her hit “Gucci, Gucci” and was joined onstage by Vanessa “V-Nasty” Reece.
Actor Jareb Dauplaise dined at Lavo, as did Emile Hirsch with Foster the People’s Mark Foster. Also at Lavo, DJ Kaskade refueling after his nonstop, 12-hour stint at Marquee, and LMFAO’s Redfoo and the Party Rock crew, who were surprised with a cake celebrating their song “Sexy and I Know It” hitting No 1. Actor Wilmer Valderrama made his way to the Lavo DJ booth with Eric D-Lux after hitting Tao for Dirty South and Marquee for ATB.
UFC fighter Forrest Griffin, Mayor Carolyn Goodman and husband and former Mayor Oscar Goodman were at Insert Coin(s) Video Lounge Gamebar. Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria, Vanessa Bryant and “Dancing With the Stars” pro champion Mark Ballas dined at STK in the Cosmopolitan.
Singer Akon performed at the Bank in the Bellagio for partygoers, among them Emile Hirsch, members of Foster the People and Bruno Mars, who was their NYE headliner. Actress Lauren Conrad dined with six friends at Chef Akira Back’s nearby Yellowtail. And UFC fighters Erik Apple, Jake Shields , Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson, Dominick “The Dominator” Cruz and Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia partied at LAX in the Luxor.
