Las Vegas outdid itself with the superstar entertainment lineup last New Year’s Eve and will likely do so again this Dec. 31. But now comes Labor Day Weekend, and Vegas is certainly presenting more celebrities than ever before. Labor Day has become an important revenue weekend on the party-fueled calendar, and it’s looking as if this 96-hour holiday will equal -- or even eclipse -- New Year’s events.
Once again, the cast members of Jersey Shore are back in town for the fourth consecutive weekend and are competing against one another. The headline lineup of nightclub hosts -- from Will.i.am and Nelly to Akon, Audrina Patridge and Carmen Electra -- is remarkable.
But even those stars have to outshine competition from concerts with Sade, John Legend, The Beach Boys and Ben Harper -- and Bill Cosby, plus Shaquille O’Neal’s launching of his own Comedy Jam.
Amid all the revelry is a nostalgic note: On the final day of the four-day weekend -- Monday -- Jet at the Mirage ends its nightclub run. It’s time for a change, and in 4 months, in time for New Year’s Eve, it will get a new look and attitude as The Light Group partners with a New York nightlife operation to bring a new concept to The Strip.
Jet’s final weekend includes G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks, Frenchie Davis of The Voice and Fabolous right up to the moment the doors are shut.
Now it’s time to open up a super-sized edition of the Royal Robin Rundown that covers everything that’s fabulous and jumping in 96 hours of extraordinary entertainment, making it just like a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Friday, Sept. 2
