The simultaneous explosion of the Bellagio fountains this afternoon with the all-star chef turnout to saber-off a giant champagne bottle officially marked the kickoff of the four-day culinary extravaganza Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appetit.
Yesterday, VegasDeLuxe.com posted an overview of the festival, including today’s highlights beginning with the Champagne Saber-Off by Chef Julian Serrano at the Bellagio fountains.
Here are tomorrow’s highlights:
Two chefs battle at the Bellagio when Akira Back and Martin Heierling heat up the kitchen in a chef’s showdown pitting Japanese cuisine and fusion cooking, followed by a shabu shabu demonstration. At Michael Mina’s restaurant at the Bellagio, master sommelier Jason Smith pairs extravagant wines with rich cheeses. Jason also joins Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Philippe Maury to pair wines and desserts.
The 4-hour Big Event Friday evening features more than 50 award-winning star chefs at the Grand Tasting at the Garden of the Gods at Caesars Palace. More than 100 wines will be served at the 5-acre party featuring staggering signature dishes.
The night ends at XS at the Encore when the chefs step out of the kitchen for the 4th Annual Celebrity Blackjack Tournament and try to dethrone Wynn star Chef Paul Bartolotta.
Check back tomorrow for coverage of today’s opening events, including the Sinatra dinner that Steve Wynn is hosting. We’ll also rundown the Saturday and Sunday events. Bon appetit!
