L.A. company expanding to Las Vegas with new nightclub at Bellagio

Los Angeles-based hospitality company SBE Entertainment announced today it is expanding its Hyde Lounge nightlife brand to Las Vegas.

The company plans to rebrand and redesign the Fontana Bar at the Bellagio as the resort’s first indoor-outdoor nightlife venue.

Construction on the 12,000-square-foot venue will begin in May with a grand opening planned for New Year’s Eve, SBE said in a release today. The renovations will include an expanded terrace overlooking the Bellagio fountains.

SBE, which is led by Sam Nazarian, opened the first Hyde Lounge in Hollywood in 2006 and has since expanded the concept to the Staples Center and Mammoth Mountain. The company has plans to open Hyde Beach in Miami in 2012. It operates several hotels, restaurants and nightclubs in the Los Angeles area.

"The move to bring the Hyde Lounge brand to Bellagio underscores the dynamic partnership forged between SBE and MGM Resorts International," Nazarian said in a statement. "Together we've secured one of Vegas' most prestigious locations, and will usher in a new and definitive chapter in nightlife on The Strip."

Hyde Lounge will be SBE’s first nightlife venture in Las Vegas, but the company already has a presence on the Strip.

SBE purchased the Sahara hotel-casino in March 2007 for a price estimated between $300 and $400 million. The Navegante Management Group operates the casino while SBE manages the hotel and restaurants. Nazarian has talked about a complete remodel and rebranding of the hotel for years, but formal plans haven't been announced.

MGM Resorts recently announced a partnership with its new players club card, M Life, and SBE that would allow guests to use the SB Preferred program at their resorts.

    I don't doubt this.

    They will indeed pay attention to extravagance, creature comforts, eye appeal and ram through an incredible in-your-face ad campaign wide spread to get business in there.

    But, in one specific area, they will do exactly what all those other clubs do.

    And that is: They will hire goons, hard sell artists and outright career criminals to staff the upper and middle management.

    They will strong arm customers for outrageous entrance fees, unbelievable bottle and food mark ups and any other type of fee they can get nightly.

    In other words, this club will be different. But the same.

    They will want that money, moh money, moh money, moh money, and don't worry about bending rules and regulations and laws, MONEY is the impetus...GET THAT MONEY.

    We've seen that happen time and time again on the Strip with all nightclubs.

    What makes them different?

  3. your rambling serves no point Colin as there is a market for their overpriced drinks and exorbitant cover charges. There are other locations for people looking for less glamour and cheaper drinks, none of which are located in the Bellagio.

I find it quite sad that Nazarian would team up with a competitor just for a better location, while his own $350 million investment, the Sahara, teeters on the brink of closure with closed room towers, no shows, no entertainment, almost non-existant dining and a players club that just cut back to giving almost zero in rewards. If he were serious about wanting a nightclub, he could transform his now closed Caravan Cafe into one, then again, he bought a hotel with a target audience of 55+ players.
