Congratulations to Vdara Spa and Salon, the winner of Las Vegas-based Rain Cosmetics’ Battle of the Brushes hosted by Absinthe star Angel Porrino at Blush in the Wynn last night.
The theme for the competition was “Cartoon Time Machine,” and participants had one hour to create a character out of its element, stuck in the past or headed toward the future. The competitors were top makeup artists from The Salon at Encore, Kim Vo Salon at the Mirage, Vdara Spa and Salon, Square Salon and Rio Spa and Salon.
The judges were Roger J. Stricker, Zumanity’s hair and makeup supervisor; two-time Battle of the Brushes winner Natasha Chamberlin; and Lori Montoya, co-founder and co-owner of Rain Cosmetics.
Maile B of Vdara Spa and Salon was the winner with her “Poison Ivy in Sin City.” Kim Katunis of Square Salon created “Time-Traveling My Little Pony, which was popular with attendees, and Brianna Thomas of Kim Vo Salon created “The Corpse Bride, Half Human.”
