Miss California Kristy Cavinder was named last night’s preliminary Talent winner for her Ballet en Pointe performance to the Slave Maiden Variation from Le Corsaire during the second night of competition of the 2010 Miss America Pageant at Planet Hollywood.
Kristy will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Also in the spotlight was Miss New York Alyse Zwick, who was the preliminary Lifestyle & Fitness winner in a black Winnwear swimsuit. Alyse will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The one-hour special Miss America: Behind the Curtain airs tomorrow at 10 p.m. on TLC. Later today on Vegas DeLuxe, we’ll post our exclusive interview with the special’s host, Clinton Kelly, who also is celebrating a milestone with the 250th episode of his hit TLC series What Not to Wear, which airs right before his Miss America Pageant special tomorrow.
The 2010 Miss America Pageant airs live on TLC on Saturday at 8 p.m. EST and 7 p.m. CST. The pageant will be tape delayed to air at 8 p.m. PST and 9 p.m. MST. As the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of the nation’s leading achievement programs, the Miss America Organization last year made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.
Reigning 2009 Miss America Katie Stam of Indiana awarded the trophies, and our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was stage-side to capture the excitement.
