*Flamingo headliner, magician Nathan Burton, returns after a three-week absence to resume his appearances there today after being hospitalized for surgery on back disc problems. Nathan tells Luxe Life: “It’s been a painful recovery but I am very happy to be back performing again."
*Multi-talented singer, composer and pianist Barry Manilow celebrated his new Hilton show “Ultimate Manilow: The Hits” with an after-show soiree with his backup singer-dancers Monica Pege, Melanie Taylor and Keely Vasquez. Barry has called the Hilton home since February 2005 -- and the fans are still making it standing-room only nightly.
* Venetian headliners the Blue Man Group join Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee on the season finale of Planet Green’s Battleground Earth. It airs this Sunday night (locally at 9 p.m. on Cox Cable Channel 103). The Blue Men will perform drum bone, as well as paint drumming -- using only green paint -- with the legendary rock star. Tommy will also play music on Blue Man Group-created instruments. Throughout the season of Battleground Earth, Tommy dueled with rap mega-star Ludacris as they tried to “one up” each other creating green initiatives. On the final contest the two stars compete in a battle of the bands, and Tommy chooses Blue Man Group as one of his top picks. “Battleground Earth’s key message is building awareness about the environment and the two stars raised $33,000 to help the environment during the telecast contests!
*Rappers Three 6 Mafia kept their party moving and grooving for 48 hours while they were at the Hard Rock hotel casino. Night One they were at Robert DeNiro’s AGO restaurant, where after dessert and drinks they chatted with several tables full of ladies – and then partied at Body English where UFC fighters Brandon Sene, Arick Nelson and John Wood were celebrating Brandon’s selection on the Ultimate Fighter TV series. Lord Infamous and Juicy J of Mafia returned on Night Two to Body English and joined MTV’s Smashtime hosts Sal Masekela and Ben Lyons for their party.
*Hope you’ve checked out the fall festival of flowers at the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. It's simply beautiful -- but the florists are already getting ready for the winter wonderland holiday display. This year they estimate they will use some 30,000 carnations alone to decorate the three polar bears that will be the centerpiece!
*Hercules star, actor Kevin Sorbo dined at the top-ranked Strip House steak restaurant inside Planet Hollywood’s resort casino in advance of hosting this weekend's celebrity golf tournament at the DragonRidge country club inside the exclusive MacDonald Highlands community. A slew of other actors and athletes are flying in today to help the star tee-off the first annual Kevin Sorbo tournament, including my friend, actor Dennis Haskins from Saved By The Bell, who will host tonight’s comedy show. It will raise funds for his nonprofit World Fit for Kids charity, which benefits many Las Vegas teens. Rich MacDonald, developer of the Highlands said: “Kevin’s dedication and support for improving the lives of kids through physical activity and leadership is inspiring.” Among the VIPs playing will be Julius Erving (Dr. J), Jim McMahon, Meat Loaf, Christopher McDonald, Patrick Warburton, and Ed “Too Tall” Jones. It will all start this evening with a pairing party and dinner at Planet Hollywood featuring special performances and comedy acts by Henry Cho, Gary Valentine, Javier Colon and Steve Azar.

*Two leading ladies of song are duking it out. Recent UCLA graduate and gifted newcomer Sara Bareilles, who has no formal training as a genius singer, songwriter and pianist, has Marc Broussard and Raining Jane as her special guests for her one-night show at the Hard Rock while leading lady with a legendary voice Linda Eder brings her Broadway song hits to the Suncoast for three nights of shows through Sunday.
*Turning back to yesteryear, the “raindrops are falling” on B.J. Thomas as he dodges the showers for his ticket at the Santa Fe Station, and Starship, starring Mickey Thomas and Stephanie Calvert, flies into the Hilton with their soaring voices while Creedence Clearwater Revisited swims into the Orleans through Sunday night, and Tony Orlando ties a yellow ribbon around the South Point casino for three nights. *Comedy is king again with Jay Leno at the Mirage and I believe that because David Spade is helping Andre Agassi that Wanda Sykes will step in at Planet Hollywood -- both for two nights. TV stars and Cheers veterans Kelsey Grammer and John Ratzenberger host a ‘Cheers to Victory’ reception at the Sedona restaurant on behalf of the Nevada Republican Party.
*Two unique events compete across the street from each other. The "world's richest motorcycle run" takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for two nights and the 2008 US Open is for both children and adult fans of the high-speed two-wheelers. The "world's championship chili cook-off" is at the Tropicana through Sunday with some of the hottest, spiciest and gooiest of deep-down South recipes you’ve ever dared to taste. You know how searing it will be when Tabasco and Rolaids are the sponsors! Plus, the ‘Age of Chivalry’ is not dead with the return of a three-day renaissance festival at our Sunset Park.
*Everybody from Criss Angel, Penn & Teller to Lance Burton calls on the dean of magic, Johnny Thompson, as their conjuring consultant. Johnny, who returned from Siegfried & Roy’s tribute at the London Palladium this week, is the special performer at Jeff McBride’s “Wonderground” late-night magic club after his own show Magic at the Edge in the Palace Station’s SoundTrax showroom.
*Party patrol: Lacey, Kristy Joe, Destiny and Jessica all failed to snare singer Brett Michael on his Rock of Love VH1 reality show so now they’re teaming up for a new $100,000 challenge and new makeover in the Rock of Love Charm School sequel. You can judge for yourselves tonight when they celebrate the season premiere in Prive at Planet Hollywood’s casino resort. Meantime, the other cast members "Frenchy" Angelique, Brandi C and Megan do their own Charm School party at Jet in the Mirage -- all to celebrate Sharon Osborne playing head mistress of etiquette on the new series that starts Sunday night ... the NBA’s only female scout, Bonnie Jill Laffin, who hunts up new players for the L.A. Lakers, is also one sharp Maxim Hot 100 model and she hosts at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile ... Crazy Girl dancer Liz Grantham turns up as the October covergirl on Strip Las Vegas magazine so she’ll host with all the other hotties from the publication at the LAX nightclub in the Luxor ... *For the second consecutive week tickets will go on sale today for the Jonas Brothers MGM concert on Saturday, Nov. 29. That’s because the demand was so overwhelming for the first show that MGM has added a second show that will begin at 3 p.m. that day. Again, to handle the expected mob scene and hysteria, extra security will be on hand when wristband distribution begins at 6 a.m.!!!
*Proving they are long-lasting music stars, despite a 1994 breakup, the newly reunited New Kids on the Block sell out at Mandalay Bay with their show that features Natasha Bedingfield and Lady Gaga. British-born Natasha got a 2007 Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and her song "Unwritten" is the theme you hear on MTV’s reality show The Hills. They are touring for their new album "The Block," which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard charts. The five boys -- Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood -- are now older, wiser, smarter men, yet the pop sensations will still be mobbed at their official after-party in the LAX nightclub next door at the Luxor.
*She’s the country star who goes by just one-name these days: Wynonna.
She used to sing with her mother as The Judds, but is solo to sing of troubled loves down at the Star of the Desert Arena south of the Strip on the stateline in Primm. After 14 No. 1 hits and 23 hit singles, Wynonna’s solo album I’m a Woman is due out next month.
*Drew Carey’s castmates from Whose Line is it Anyway have banded together for their own show, Whose Live Anyway. Improv comics Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Chip Esten and Jeff Davis team up at the Henderson Pavilion.
*Two triple-power punch lineups will compete with each other across town: Kings of Leon and their Dixie-styled rock from Nashville with We Are Scientists and The Stills rock at the Hard Rock while Santogold with Mates of State and Low vs Diamond make the music at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay. Then British blues rock band Foghat, who have been "Driving the Wheel" since 1971, take a "Slow Ride" into the Sunset Station.
*For real light heavyweight power punches 1996 Olympic bronze medal winner Antonio Tarver, who was Sylvestor Stallone’s opponent in the last Rocky movie, goes up against Chad Dawson, who wants his IBF/IBO golden belt at the Pearl Theater in the Palms. Tarver (27-4 with 19 KOs) and Dawson (26-0 with 17 KOs) are the top draw on this Showtime event with 39-year-old Antonio, 13 years older, as the underdog. The card also features the WBC heavyweight title battle between Samuel Peter and Vitali Klitschko. Meantime, UFC fighters Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin will host a party up at the Red Rock resort’s Cherry ultra-lounge and Affliction mixed martial arts star Andrei "Pit Bull" Androvski unleashes his Infinite Potential with a special meet and greet party in Hugh Hefner’s penthouse at the Palms.
*Actress Leslie Bibb, who starred as Ricky Bobby’s wife in Talladega Nights, hosts an evening at the Prive nightclub at the Planet Hollywood resort casino. Her new flick Confessions of a Shopaholic will be released shortly with critics predicting superstar success and recognition for her.
*Late-night revelers get another addition to the pre-dawn scene when MGM’S Studio 54 opens at 3 a.m. to kick off its new After Hours parties that will go to sun-up and beyond! The world's top DJ, Paul Oakenfold throws another Perfecto extravagant experience at Rain in the Palms.
*Please support Tony Orlando’s special Opportunity Village benefit show at the South Point and separately the second annual NSPCA Family, Fur and Fun Festival. It’s a daylong event open free to the public and you can even take your four-legged friend with you!
*We’ll be courtside with the Maloof family, who will be cheering on their Sacramento Kings basketball star players in their annual rivalry and pre-season game against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Thomas & Mack Center. UNLV Rebels player Reggie Theuss is now in his second year as coach of the Kings with a roster of new young players being built around veterans Bobby Jackson and Kevin Martin. Olympic gold champion Kobe Bryant will be there with Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum to keep the legacy of being Western Conference champions alive.
*Afterward, everybody will be back to George Maloof’s Playboy Club at the Palms for the Rhinestone Cowboy party, where guests are encourage to bedazzle in western-wear for Bronson’s world-famous bucking bronco dance-off.
*The Hunt for Miss Redoctober is on at the Bank nightclub in the Bellagio and the blondes and brunette bikini babes will slug it out to win the $5,000 grand prize while New Found Glory makes it a "Day To Remember" at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay.
