I have three daughters, the middle one is Deaf. In order for her to have language to communicate and to learn, we enrolled her at age three in the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf. She's nineteen now and is preparing for college... because she was taught in a visual language that is the language of her soul. It's not about inclusion... it's about complete educational access. It's about "over-seeing" conversations of Deaf adults to gain the same language advantages that her two hearing sisters have. It's about embracing who she is... not what she doesn't have. It's about parents having options for the education of their Deaf and hard-of-hearing children. I celebrate your new charter school for Deaf students!
