Reid's jobs bill has a one year extension on the Patriot Act.
Nevada teachers were failing our kids before No Child Left Behind (albeit they are not the only problem).
Our educational system continues to lie about how well funded it is (over $13,000 per child from all funding sources).
Nevada teachers did, and do, enjoy salary averages that are higher than the average Nevadan's (with much better benefits).
CCSD has repeatedly refused to allow an audit of its finances.
We waste millions of dollars on an inefficient school building design.
Most dollars don't make it into the classroom anymore.
Millions of dollars for landscaping and palm trees instead of supplies.
The teacher's asked for Nevadan's to help them buy houses while their union suggested higher property taxes on our homes.
Declining test scores, graduation rates, and proficiency have plagued the system since the 90's.
Teachers can 'share in the wealth' when they prove they have earned it by being able to produce results. No one else outside of government gets a raise without good performance ... why the hell should you?
Every time I turn around the teachers are screaming for more pay so they can do their jobs better. I wish I could tell my boss that. They have more money per pupil, and smaller class sizes than most of our international educational rivals without producing the same results. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING WITHOUT RESULTS!
Calling this woman a conservative is patently false. You libs need to learn what conservatism is. This is a very 'progressive' ordinance. No true conservative would support this socialist government oppression.
Uniform mandates - socialist
Setting standards for behavior - socialist
Assuming guilt without the breaking of law - socialist
Requiring window tinting - socialist
This is a liberal ordinance ... not conservative.
Man, you libs really are idiots. It was you that said we were there for oil, and that it would be evil to steal that oil to pay for the war. That was all you. We were telling you all along this war wasn't about oil, but you went on and on about incoherent arguments and fabricating lies.
Now you are just mad that your assertion this war was about America stealing Iraqi oil has been proven wrong. You even seemed to advocate taking Iraq's oil to pay for the war. Make up your minds.
Wrong birdie ... period ... end of story.
The taxpayer has a right to receive a return from their investment, and you are more likely to get that return if a potential student shows basic aptitude. Everyone has a right to go to college, but only if they pay for it themselves.
Asking a teacher to double their work load without an increase in pay is ridiculous. As is hiring another professor when you have no revenue.
The problem is very simple ... you have increasing numbers of customers (students), but you aren't making a profit. You are faced with two choices, raise revenue (taxes, tuition) or cut costs. I'd rather they tried to cut costs by getting rid of the life courses that have no bearing on people developing marketable skills ... like tap dancing. Cut those types of classes, and see if we get closer to breaking even. Then raise tuition slightly, while keeping your costs in check.
This is basic math, and logic folks.
Ignorance is the cancer of the world Mr. Geisler, and you've been diagnosed with it. Too bad you have no concept of what socialism is, what conservatives believe, or any historical perspective. Feel free to continue to make a fool of yourself with falsehoods, and half-truths.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Vegas has far more registered Democrats.
I guess the first thing to point out is the Steelers are not in the NFC North.
After that, to say Lovie Smith is a bad coach is an uninformed opinion from a novice at best. He may not be the best, but he's a good coach who consistently leads a competitive team. He also isn't afraid to shake up his staff when needed, and take over the signal calling.
The Bears are also a far better team than the Super Bowl team this year. They are better at QB, WR, OL, TE, and RB ... in spite of this articles criticism of the Bears OL. It is a completely revamped line this year, and can't be compared to last years ... or the year before that when they were horrid.
The weakness may actually be the defense. Especially when it comes to the health of the secondary. If the Bears suffer ... that will be the weak link.
I hope by a 'few hundred' you mean at least 1,500 (if not more). That place was packed.

No kidding Geoffrey. I propose taxing government workers in Clark County. They make excessive salary compared to government workers around the country, and they have better benefits. Not to mention the average county salary far exceeds the average non-governmental salary.
