I agree that the American people are more deserving of their own tax money that are banks and such, but the picture you paint is a bit too "rosey." Half of everyone would probably put their $2300 right into savings (yup, the banks would get the money anyway), and I'm not sure if you've asked around but people's mortgages are often much higher than $2300 a month (the reason we're in this whole mess), so that's a dud. And gas and plane tix are still ridiculously high so the travel probably wouldn't happen, either.
If the feds want to try to "fix" this, I think they need to broker a deal between the banks themselves, and not use any taxpayer money at all.

First, everyone knows the very essence of being a Democrat is to tax and spend. That's the exact OPPOSITE of fiscal conservatism. Obama has already promised to raise my taxes. Therefore I (and the rest of us) will spend less, and the economy will suffer. Great idea.
Second, the Dems seem to forget that they've controlled Congress for several years, so any tax increase passed is as much on their shoulders as on President Bush's. Filibusters or not, they passed them.
Third, Obama's controversies are of his own making from his own horrible, radical ideas of "change." The mere fact that these controversies make it through the mainstream liberal media is absolute proof that the Republicans have nothing to do with them.
Can we raise taxes and lower wages? Yes we can!
Can we weaken our national defense? Yes we can!
Can we bring socialism to America? Yes we can!
Change is indeed coming.
