we used to overstate our attendance numbers....today, I think we understated them. There had to be 16k - 17k there. there was a barely a seat left in the house. The attendance was very good from what I saw.

This is the kind of kid ANY program in the country would be fortunate to have wearing their jersey, representing their school....kudos to the coaching staff for identifying him early, signing him, and getting him into the scarlet and gray...and Thanks J-Hawk (and thank you to your family that raised you right), for choosing to represent my alma mater....makes me proud to have athletes like you demonstrating that you can be an athlete and a great person at the same time!!!

"they've tried just about everything when it comes to coaches" ??? Really?

I don't think they have. I think UNLV tries to leach success from somebody else, from another's program. (See Horton, Robinson and Sanford) instead of going out and actually FINDING a good coach/good manager/good fit.

Of the last 3 coaches, Robinson was the most successful because even in a shell of himself, he was a better HEAD coach than the other two. He raised money, added to the programs facilities, all while losing...plus he did win one bowl game.

UNLV needs to find a good coach....however, you're right in one sense, money DOES need to be spent. Good coaches don't come cheap...even if they're moving up from a lower division NCAA school. Also, the facilities (locker rooms are INDEED a disgrace) need to be re-modeled, there needs to be SOME investment in the infastructure).

However, I disagree we've done everything to find the right coach (we because I'm an alum). We have not done everything.....we haven't judged head coaching talent, we've merely hoped to absorb success from another program already having success.

ummmm....sufferin'-through-another-long-idiotic-post, isn't this a DONATION?!?!!? If you're stomach's sick, go take your meds...it appears your due.

Fact of the matter is, if Lon Kruger raises the money for a basketball practice facility, A REAL ONE, we up the ante for not only the rest of our conference, but the rest of the country....we go from having top 25 college basketball facilities, to top 5....the recruits will be awed and its not coming out of the public cofers. This only enhances our school's reputation.

BTW...75 million for a football stadium? I don't know if you really get it at that price now days. Last time we updated Sam Boyd, it cost 18-20 million, and that was only to update the stadium.....not to mention the field turf costing over a million alone (donation from the Maloufs).

in my opinion, last year Santee looked like he had a decent game, but he wasn't getting the ball consistently enough and when he WOULD finally get the ball, sometimes he rushed things a bit. It seemed our guys would find him at the beginning of games, and after timeouts (which says the coaches must've gotten on them about doing it), but then he'd only see the ball when one of the Seniors weren't getting the looked they wanted late in the shot clock...not a recipe for success.

Santee looked pretty good to start out the season and faded.....but even after he faded, I always felt he could be a major contributor this year because he had the skill, and we were losing a lot of players that dictated a different style of play than what Kruger likes to run....I think we'll see a lot more consistent touches for Santee this year....and once he get the confidence and the reps, he'll be very solid to very good for us.

I'm all for freedom of speech...but please ban Robert...errrr, I mean Sylvester the Cat. Not because (or not just because) his posts are usually full of nonsense, and usually hate, but because he clutters every discussion about UNLV to the point where others don't contribute, or don't want to contribute.

There's a reason this fool was banned from nearly every message board he's posted on. Isn't going to take a death threat (from him that is...like he did to Bayno) for you guys to realize that free speech has limits? The guy's cheese has slipped off his cracker many moons ago....ban him.

Btw...this is the same looney that worked for UNLV as a free-ticket distributor (to players' families) and was let go from that job....a volunteer job!!! Hard to get let go when you're working for free...lol!!!

If I were subway avenue, I'd let them sue me for all the publicity it will get. In Utah, a restaurant named "Chadders" opened up that copied EVERYTHING "In'n Out" does down to the same colors and a logo that looks similar (http://www.chaddersusa.com/)...eventuall... all they had to do after being sued by "In'N Out" is add blue to their colors....that's it. Everything else is the same...and trust me, they copied everything!

Subway Avenue's menu isn't even similar...it looks just like Verrazano's Pizza's, where I used to work as a teen, menu more than Subways' menu. I don't think Subway will win this and are just trying to use scare tactics...don't back down, and they'll go away.

Larry Johnson Jr....NO BRAINER Kruger!!! With all the recruits we've wasted scholarships on over the years, even if LJ Jr. isn't his dad, HE IS the son of the best player we've every had....AND we've really blown it with former players' kids in the past (Taurean Green for example)...this needs to get done!!!

bigfish, you're a moron. Vegas valley has nearly 40 high schools playing Nevada's top prep football, and only ONE university in the valley. UNLV should be able to be competitive by using Vegas as a base....heck, the starting running back and starting middle linebacker at both Utah and Oklahoma are Vegas natives (Wide, Sylvester, Murray, Reynolds)......a freshman RB from Vegas at Reno nearly had 200 yards on UNLV and had 5 TDs....Colorado State's best receiver is a Vegas native.....the valley has players, all UNLV has to do is hire a great coach for once, win more games than he loses, and start to keep kids home.

"DROP FOOTBALL...", that's an insane/arrogant comment fish...why don't you go home to wherever you came from, Vegas doesn't want you.

dude, koloskie isn't the issue bro.....he's been at UNLV since Tark's days here....he's not the guy to make tough decisions. A previous article has you and others like you ripping Koloskie...whatever, he's just a fan/employee that really has no power....but the guy is a UNLV fan, its not just a job to him, I respect that. I'm not looking to him for any huge decisions...the first huge decision he makes, would be the first, and I don't see it happening.
