Shef,

Nobody reads articles that are more than 5 or 6 lines long, so yours of 4 very long paragraphs is a loser right from the start, SORRY.

Like you say, when thigs happen with a nuclear plant, the down time could be 100% a year, and it does happen.
What I cant understand is why solar power has never been really big business in Nevada, doesnt the sun shine there well over 300 days a year

ABEVAN...

""Wind and solar are wonderful, but expensive. Tripling electric rates is something not to be taken lightly, it would be economically devastating""

Still believing the scaremongering from the fossil fuel companies, saying that if GREEN energy is used it will be 300% dearer. My energy is Green and its costs just the same, 5.9 cents per Kwh at scource

Ed, the understatement or should I say the most stupid statement of the year.......""Much of Europe has not had the luxury of our power sources ""

Someone wrote about the water requirements for a Nuclear plant. True they use slightly more per Kwh than coal fired power plants, but then again one must consider the advantages of Nuclear power, no emissions, whereas a coal plant has emissions all the way from the mining, the transport, the handling, the burning, the toxic waste disposal for 50 yrs

Why should you need to go to Expensive Maglev, just upgrade the existing tracks so that they can use the Europeans tilting trains that can achieve 300kph. These are used in several EU countries and the cost is only a small fraction of what the French had to invest in their "bullet" trains.

That would solve the problems, but as you have a very strange ruling about ""The Right to own a Gun"" which dates back more than 200 yrs, when it was most likely the only way to survive, so why should this ruling be valid today. I can understand the right to own a hunting gun of big caliber, just as long as these weapons are locked up all the time they are not used for hunting, not carried in almost every pickup in the USA today

Most of you are so cynical and narrow minded, and make jokes about this very serious thing, but then its the USA, where everyone has the right to have a gun, even small children, perhaps even unborn babies have the right as well so they can shoot their way out of the womb, you are SO sick
