Hi myysterri, we generally use block numbers for that exact reason, as opposed to listing full addresses. There are instances involving certain crimes where it would be appropriate to list only a nearby major intersection or general part of town.

Full addresses are still available through other public means, such as fire dispatch logs, but our stories involving fires usually just contain block numbers. I hope that helps.

The_Next_Opinion, you're right. It wasn't quite that chilly this morning. It's been changed. Thank you.

Hi sevenfoot, I completely agree with you, and that's how we generally display them. But in this case, the images Metro released to us were very small (132 pixels wide), so there isn't a larger image to view. That's why these images are displayed the way they are. I hope that helps.

Hi DTJ,

I'm not sure why you express doubt with "recorded" temperatures, but as the story says, 110 is the highest temperature the weather service has recorded at McCarran on today's date, Aug. 23. Other areas, particularly locations at lower elevations generally in the eastern valley, might see slightly warmer weather on any given day, but McCarran is the official weather reporting station for Las Vegas.

As a side note, the warmest temperature ever recorded on any day in August in Las Vegas is 116 degrees.

Here are the official records from the local weather service office:

The Nevada Highway Patrol has released an update to the Nye County Sheriff's Office's initial information, calling it a dirt bike instead of a motorcycle. The story has been updated to reflect the new information.

Hi Chunky, you're right. We just added a couple of photos that originally should have been published with the story. Thanks!

Hi boftx, just to be clear, the story never said the mayor was in the car. He was quoted as saying Quillin was on administrative leave, but there was nothing about him being in the car. We have the arrest report and will update the story with more details shortly, but Quillin was alone in the car.

Thanks, ginagrrl. We changed it to reflect that you're a former country club manager, rather than a nightclub manager, and added that you did also say "You have to earn my respect."

Hi nick131313, your phone number is used for one purpose only -- a phone call to help confirm you are who you say you are. We don't share it with advertisers or anyone else.
