Let's not demonize alcohol here guys. I can have family fun with a "Daddy Pop". I will buy advance tickets if you change that policy. The mere fact that you are selling advance tickets tells me that you need some help financing the venture. Overpriced beer and watered down cocktails will help it pencil.

Seriously, at 5,000 projected daily visitors assuming 20% of which are responsible adults ready willing and able to consume a cold one, your top line revenue just increased by $900K (1,000 x $5 x 180 days (Apr - Sep) at 50% margin that's $450K in profit.

With that profit you guys can afford to hire more lifeguards to keep my kids safer. 37 in fact assuming $8.25/hr (It's all about the children)

Besides I love my family, but they are so much better after I have had a cold one.

The park may be in summerlin, but this is still vegas.

J. Patrick,

What would have the state's budget deficit been if the DA's office stopped collecting on the bad debt? Given that the state spends ~50% - 60% on education, every dollar in bad debt not collected is a direct reduction in money that can be spent on education.

How does Nevada's collection on bad debt compare to other states that don't have support from the DA's office. (Atlantic City, New Jersey)We could have a similar distinction to AC? Let me know if that gives you greater comfort.

Is this the only example of the County collecting or pursuing debts on behalf of private citizens / entities? No. See Child Support Payments

What is the alternative to this arrangement? We could take it back to the 60s and 70s and employ seedy gentlemen wielding baseball bats hunting people down.

Is the bad check unit at the County the only unit partially funded by a fee levied against the industry it supports? Hardly. Explain how this is odd again?

Oddly enough, if state legislators were presented with language changing any of the arrangements you described, they will ask one simple question. How much revenue to the state will we gain or lose by changing this working relationship? Hopefully the people we elect would act as good stewards of our resources and say, "It's not perfect, but it works for us and the alternative is not ideal."

Is David Roger the only DA to receive campaign contributions from our city's largest employers and corporations. Please analyze the contributions of past DA's and see if there is something odd about the contributions in this cycle. If you have an issue with the system point that out, don't focus on the individual because the personality holding the office is merely doing his job.

I appreciate you shining a light on an issue that is not perfect, but this is one where the topic makes great fodder for conspiracy theorists but little merit in the real world.

Why is each agency Director negotiating energy contracts? Clearly there has to be some economies of scale by negotiating a comprehensive plan on behalf of the state. Governor elect Sandoval has a real oppurtunity to get this right.
