jfnance 32: Yes. And you'll realize that on Nov. 4.

Ms Palin did okay with her canned responses and steered clear of having to think on her feet by saying "I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also." When she has to think and answer questions without practice she's a disaster.

I'd be very interested to learn where you are going to go where it's better. I've looked around and the other places with the good schools and roads have much higher taxes. Or they are too cold or have hurricanes, etc. So I guess I'll have to stick it out here.

Not to defend or condemn Chaney because there hasn't been a trial but interesting that Gertz immediately wants to throw out the race card. Funny all the wall street criminals aren't identified as WHITE opportunists who sleazed their way into business based on their network with other white opportunists.

We have three separate library systems with three sets of administration? One for LV, one for Henderson and another for Boulder City. Wouldn't it make more sense to have one Southern Nevada Library system and cut back on costs?

And why $500? There are plenty of good TVs out there for less. And a TV isn't a 'need' it is a 'want'.

And as a follow up: See http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...

"It hardly mattered that Obama so quickly and gracefully declared Palin's family life off limits to political posturing, or that it was an announcement from the McCain campaign that vaulted Bristol Palin's pregnancy from a buzz in the blogosphere to a Page 1 story in newspapers across the land."

No one to blame here for her personal business being on the front page but Palin, really.

As far as her daughter's pregnancy, of course kids make mistakes, but perhaps kids with access to complete information make wiser choices.

mschaffer: you beat me to the punch. Unfortunately these days, once you put yourself in the public light, your life and your family's life become public fodder - rightly or wrongly. Did Palin not know that? If she did then I'm sorry she chose to let that happen to her family. If she didn't, she is remarkably naive.

Patricia,

Who gets to decide on 'authentic' faith? Or 'authentic' family. In this country, supposed land of the free, no one should be imposing their particular brand of faith or family. You want to pray, do it. You want to keep birth control away from your childen, do it. But stop trying to legislate values.

These comments make me hope the posters here don't represent the majority of the voters in this country. How sad to vote based on rumors and innuendos you hear on a playground. Does anyone really study the issues anymore and vote based on the candidate's stand on those issues? Can you admit that both men are human and have failings but that you believe more in one's ability to run the country? Do you have to lower yourself to name calling?
