Marshall and Hawkins are both well qualified to play right now. Marshall is a rebounding and scoring machine. Hawkins can run the show when Oscar and Jasper take a break this year.
I am afraid we may need Los to play this year. He plays more aggressive than any big man we have on the floor. He may not be muscle bound but he is agile and can block shots too. He is adjusting to the Division I game though. I can see the adjustment period. If we can afford it than he will get lots out of this and be a terrific player down the road.
It was obvious that Lon didn't play our starters very much tonight. He was giving young players time on the floor. Chace also needed time to get the rust off. 1st half to second half was dramatic for him. He will do just fine for us once he is 100% in a week or two.
The funny thing is how people make Andre out to be unique right now. I am sure if most of us wrote out our lives they wouldn't be as boring as we once thought. The things he says I can empathize with. I played Tennis at an early age, I wasn't nearly as good but I learned to dislike playing as well. Sports we get pushed into tend to have a negative affect on us somewhere down the road. The meth use is totally different topic. He was searching for something to make him feel better in a bad time in his life.
Still, you don't want two of our better players getting in a fight during practice. That wouldn't be good at all.
I will be the first to say I am not the biggest Wallace fan but the kid is shooting lights right now. I went to practice this week and he made 10-12 in a row during a scrimmage and drills. He was killing it. If he even shoots half this good we are going to have a great guard coming off the bench right away.
Chace is absolutely my favorite player out there now. I was happy to see him back at practice. Even with a bum ankle he can do things nobody else can. He has size, agility and a good shot. That is a nice mix to play ball with. People will be pumped once they see Chace, Derrick, Oscar, Tre and Santee all play together. That will be a tall talented lineup. Tre is getting quite a bit better too. He has a certain confidence that was missing last year. Man, I am pumped for next Tuesday.
I think he could have a very productive year. Coach knows he hurt his confidence by pulling him out so much and not giving him a chance to play and make a few mistakes. Darris and Brice could be a wicked combo on the floor.
Guess what, UNLV is working on a new gym next to Cox Pavillion. It is going to be a nice recruiting tool when it is done. So they will get their wish shortly. The only problem is not having parking for games after that.

Nigel Williams Goss is going to be in the NBA. He is sooo good. I would take any of these guys on UNLV's roster. Cory Joseph and Nick Johnson are on my wish list for UNLV recruits. I wouldn't agree with Jabari Brown either though. Man, that team is going to so fun to watch this year.
