Back in the late 70's when we had the fuel and oil crisis the City of New York and the NYC School system all went to a four day work week.(I taught in NYC back then.) It saved billions of dollars as well as energy.
In fact productivity went up in the government sector as well as student achievement. It was used for a number of years after the crisis ended then scrapped!
The Dream act should not be passed. These folks committed an illegal act and should be not rewarded for it. This would not happen in any other country in the world.
I am one American tired of paying for these freeloaders while the rest of us struggle. How many of these folks went to school for free on our dollar. Time we took back America!!
Part of the problem is that we have to appeal the 14th ammendment and demand documentation on all students. Let's face it the freeloading illegals ae also adding to the problem. We need to employee all the unemployed to become ICE agents and clean up this country!
This is a total disgrace! Our elected officials all of them owe it to us the taxpaying American citizens not these freeloaders. The only thing I would give these illegals is a one way ticket back escorted by ICE. This would never go on in another country. No wonder why they never go to Canada!!
Hire more ICE agents to enforce the laws, and watch unemployment come down!
We must work to appeal the 14th ammendment of the constitution. Nevada is not the only place with this problem. A doc from Texas wrote an article about this illegal woman who crosses the boarder just to have kids. When he saw her she was on number 8. She collects all the benefits for these kids and not even contributing a dime. They are called "anchor babies" and just because they are born here they are "entitled."
There is a group of congress folks working on getting this repealed, but just watch all these immigration folks scream. These illegals have no rights and neither do their children. We need to start deporting!!!
This explains a lot! I have had an application pending with CCSD for over 18 months. Had interviews with district level personnel telling me that I am more than qualified but they do not have the funds. Also had interviews with principals, and was told, I want to put you to work now but we do not have the funds. Now who is telling the truth now??
If you have a job and living in the state you need to register your car and follow the law. do not complain about the high registration rates. I have a Madza Protege and here in California my registration is 480 per year plus smog! I cannot wait to move to Nevada and cut my costs!
As an educator, I love these politicans who have not clue to what an educator does yet they want to dictate what we need to be doing. I would love for one of these politicans to walk in our shoes.
They have no educational experience but yet have all the answers and know what is good for our kids. So I say Mr. Politican, the next time you need heart surgery or medical attention consult a plummber or auto repair person, because they do not know the first thing about medicine. The same reasoning you are using on us educators.
This piece of garbage deserved the book thrown at her and more. Why are there two levels of justice in this country??

To Doolish 1: I taught in Southern Florida for over 20 years and got out because of the emphasis on FCAT, no teacher support, low wages and the cuts to Career and Business Education. Yes, I am glad I left but came to California. Mistake!! I hae also decided to try and make a move to Clark. My research and folks I have spoken to have shown me what a progressive district Clark is but there are problems where ever you go! It is my hope that Clark will increase their Business and Career Tech offering as the economy in Nevada is a service one that depends in my field.
