This is an excellant comparison of the two. Carolyn is getting better with her answers while you can see that Chris G. has total command of the issues. You can see plainly, even if you disagree with her, that Chris knows and understands the issues then formulates an opinion and policy. There is a depth to Chris' replies that Carolyn's lack. Chris even has personal experience working with them. I'm affraid Carolyn, for her good qualities, isn't there yet. Which, I believe if she is elected, will put her in the position to have to rely on her staff and advisors. And you know who those folks will be from, gaming and development. I want someone in that office that speaks for me and my family, my business. Understands the issues from the same level I live at. Not high priced, high power gated communities and tall office buildings. Think about that.

For Patrick and many of his ilk this all doesn't matter. It's just a day at the office. Stifling elementary education or supporting the sale of cigarettes, it doesn't matter. It's just a pay check. After the concerned citizens of Las Vegas twist themselves into knots he logs off and winks at you and then says (to paraphrase Bill Maher), "Hey dude I already got your money."

Sad Sad... To the residents, don't you pray that you are your brother's keeper?

It isn't the residents or the clinicians that I feel most sorry for. It is the struggling single mother or husband who can't afford insurance but desperately wants his children taken care of. To have to read that filth directed at them is shameful.

I hope Mr. Reid has the courage to do what is right and will remember the people opposing the plan will not be the people who go out and knock on doors on a senatorial candidate's behalf.

I may not be either

I am over it, really. "I don't believe in it" The bible tells me so? That is the best you can come up with? No original thought in your that little bigoted brain of yours? Its okay to legally treat certain people as a separate class of citizens even though there is no verse but an amendment the says "equal protection under the law" that says it is wrong? A friend of mine's partner passed away after a 33 year relationship. There are bigots reading this who haven't broken a decade with a relationship but feel its okay that the surviving partner has to live with a death certificate that states his partner died single and he wasn't even put down as next of kin. That is wrong. I don't expect your religious organizations to bend to anyone's views, you can be as mixed up as you want. That is what this country is about, but don't impose your polluted philosophies on others. It is just wrong and quite frankly illegal and some day historically you will placed with other misguided people like those that opposed the freedom marchers in Selma.

I am in a heterosexual relationship who doesn't not believe in marriage. there are more and more of "US." (another "us" for you to worry about) What if we are happy the way are all? What we'd like is legal recognition of our status so we can partake in the benefits, some of which we help pay for with our taxes, that other couples get?

"I don't believe in it" Well folks times are changing. The bigots are on the wrong side of history on this one. Again.

Lied is charged with animal control. And if anyone did the math they saw that about 40,000 animals were euthanize last year. Sadly and of no choice of their own, Lied's animal control responsibilities mostly center on reducing the excess pet population in the valley. If your pet is caught is up in that system they lack the resources to do what should be their primary job of keeping the community safe from dangerous animals and protecting the good ones. My animals are micro-chipped. They are also fast runners with a sense of adventure. The last time I picked up one of my dogs from Lied I asked the attendant,"why don't you scan for the chip?" Well, the blunt reply was we intake about 150 animals a day and there is no time.

But with the exception of North Las Vegas, any effort to establish spay neutering laws has been fought tooth and nail by the backyard breeders in the state. It is time for the county to adopt a spay and neuter law that respects legitimate breeders rights but cuts down on the unnecessary deaths that occur daily at Lied.
