Plus vegaslee...there are only 10 Casinos in PA...how many are there in Nevada? They pay a large tax for a MONOPOLY !! There were a limited number of licenses in PA..Anyone with a semi clean background and the $$ can build a casino here..
uddeboda..
Heres a Link to tax rates all over the world
I went with a group of 6 people to the Mexican restaraunt at Aliante Station last Wednesday..at 7:20pm we were one of 3 whole tables being occupied in it..food took forever to get to altho it was good...I'm sure they only had one cook working..and before we were even leaving they were turning out all the candles and closing up shop at about 9pm...the casino floor was deserted...It was a nice looking place..but it looked like a rubber stamp of Red Rock Casino
Why is it so hard for some of you to understand the idea of free enterprise? If a place allows smoking and you don't like it,...then don't go in..simple as that. And as for the employees..well you know going in that the place allows smoking..if you don't like that then don't apply to work there.
They can't return to the old business model...cheap rooms and cheap food and drinks..looser slots 3/2 BJ ...because...
They financed these mega resorts based on this buisiness model.."every Department has to be a Profit Center"
No longer can F&B be a loss leader..Rooms are cheaper than before but the profit on them is just less thats all...I bet it takes no more than say 40$ to turn a room around in a big strip property.
Sad but true...and how the heck did the GCB let 2 Companies (Harrahs & MGM) basically control 80% of the strip Hotel/Casinos?
How come the 8 casinos in PA. pay more in taxes to the state of PA. than the 260 casinos in Nevada pay?
PGelsman...becasue they have a 55% tax rate...they agreed to this because in PA they only have allowed 8 licenses...and at least 1/3 of the entire USA population is within a 2 hour drive..it's called paying for a monopoly...thats why Foxwoods was the most profitable casino in the world before other states started legalizing gaming.
As much as I dislike Harry Reid...I'm afraid he is going to win in November...Harry's campaign in the primary was'nt for the most part against his Democrat opponents...it was against Sue Lowden...in his mind the heavy favorite to beat him...so he went after her with guns blazing,,,vaporized her and left the GOP with Angle.. knowing he could eaily defeat her..his strategy is working to perfection unfortunately
Bring the rain
If I'm not mistaken the Fertittas held 25% of the "privately owned" stations casinos...They made a fortune selling the other 75% to Colony Capital ( I think) when it went private...so they already hit the "cashout" button...so when the economy tanked and the NEW private Station Company couldnt meet their debt load, they filed BK ...now are buying back their own properties for pennies on the dollar...can you say Donald Trump?
HeyVegas is exactly correct...any dispute of $500 or more that isnt resolved to the patrons satisfaction..i.e. they would of had to let him keep his chips...the Casino HAS to report the incident to Gaming and TI did'nt. Thats why they ruled against the casino...not the fact that he tried to cheat the game..

Hey Homer learn your facts too...Nevada Casinos pay a 6.75% rate on their GROSS GAMING REVENUES..is it less than other states..yes..you know why the other states pay higher tax rates? Because they only allow a limited # of Casinos in their states..thereby giving those operators a MONOPOLY..they can afford to pay higher tax rates for NO COMPETITION...get it?
Sheesh Gaming already accounts for over 50% of the money put into the general fund and you keep coming back for more..
