Here are just a few things wrong with Shelley's commentary:
-Accountability for the malfeasance displayed by Loux and Bryan is not limited to financial shenanigans. These Jokers are TECHNICALLY dishonest as well. When Loux/Bryan admit that they stifle any suggestion that Yucca be fairly considered on its merits, they show their true colors-and this is why Nevada needs a more reasoned oversight approach.
-It's not Industry Lobbyists that push for Yucca. Its most of Shelley's colleagues in Congress that voted for it and fund it and made it the law of the land. About 49 other States want/need this project to move ahead and it likely will.
-There are huge economic benefits that flow from Yucca to the tune of $1 Billion per year for decades. These benefits would largely flow to our much distressed construction industry and are not dependent on the ups and downs of the gaming industry. Of course, if you stifle free debate on these benefits, you would not know about them, would you Shelley?
-Shelley's worried about transport of waste across the country. Is she so uninformed that she doesn't realize that thousands of these same shipments have been safely conducted by the military for 50 YEARS? Or is she just trying to scare us?

We expect a more mature voice from our representatives who we expect to do their homework and understand the issues before they flap their lips and wag their pens.

Based on scientific studies over the last 25 years by the finest minds in our National Labs, it turns out the actual effect on someone living at the edge of the Nevada test from Yucca is essentially zero.
You would get a larger dose sitting in the Carson City capitol building (granite exudes radiation) for a single session. Maybe we should shut down the Capitol?
Yucca is not dead because this nation desperately needs it and the scientific truth about its safety will be demonstrated in the licensing proceedings about to commence.
Let the experts decide and keep the politicians out of this important decision.

Calling Yucca Mountain "the devil" sounds a bit immature,don't you think? Instead of a reasoned debate on the technical and economic merits, our distinguished senior Senator resorts to childish name calling. In fact, establishing a national geologic repository at Yucca Mountain is the LAW OF THE LAND! Many in his own party voted for it and support it today. Why are Reid and Ensign afraid to let an independent panel evaluate the vast economic benefits that would flow from this project?

Loux has shown a pattern of deceit. First by lying to the government to avoid the draft, misuse of Yucca funds over the years for unintended purposes and now the latest --possible criminal manipulation of salaries in clear violation of State Law. If this guy doesn't get the boot quickly, we may need to pardon all the other embezzlers held in our State prisons.
But what is worse, we now come to find out that the very person that was supposed to oversee Loux's budgets and actions is ex-Gov. Richard Bryan who is Loux's biggest apologist. What a surprise? I think Bryan needs to step down as well. A fish rots from the head and this arrangement is scandalous. How about some accountability and justice for the taxpayer?

Throw the bums out. Nevada doesn't need them. Now that the License is accepted by NRC, let the real safety experts decide. These consultants are blood-sucking parasites that add no value to the review process

What kind of nonsense are you guys trying to sell us. Are you aware that the Navy has made 3,000 shipments of the same nuclear material over the last 50 YEARS without incident. You get a bigger dose of radiation from one day at the pool laying in the sun than you ever will from Yucca Mountain. Do a little homework fella's and stop feeding the public lies. You are sounding more shrill and off base every day.

Is Nevada nuts? Turn down a $96 Billion Federal project over 40 years with thousands of non-gaming jobs. This alone could turn around our ailing economy. The politicians and the local print media need to stop the nonsensical opposition to Yucca. Yes, Nevada got politically screwed 25 years ago--get over it! We are wasting time--where do we sign up for this Federally sponsored economic windfall. Reid et al need to get out of the way.
