The man obviously failed to do his job or did something not allowed by that position. It is a public employment position and the public should be made aware of the circumstance.
Unions demand businesses pay higher taxes so the union members can be paid more. This isn't new. This is so old the voters are sick of it.
The real question is why federal funds are spent on local 'beautification' project anywhere. If Nevada received $690,000 then hundreds of millions were spent nationwide. The federal government should not be spending money on local projects. If Nevada wants to beautify a street then let Nevada taxpayers fund the project. If Chicago wants to so the same then don't ask Nevada taxpayers to fund it. Get the feds out of local projects everywhere.
How was it set intentionally to injure firefighters? Next question is why were 27 firefighters assembled to fight a single family residence fire? In most communities one or two trucks with 6 to 8 guys would consider this a normal event.
There is no advantage for banks to foreclose. After months of no payments they have legal and title company expenses. They then get to enter a home that may not be kept up. After hiring an appraiser they then get to pay a real estate agent a commission and wait for the sale to close. The result is they finally get 'market value' less all of their expenses.
The problem is the banks don't own the mortgages. The banks sold off the income stream to investors so there may be hundreds of different owners all with miniscule percentages of a single mortgage or block of mortgages. Trying to get agreement from a non existent owner leaves the bank no choice but to foreclose. There is also no real loss to the bank taking ownership as they are acting for the investors. The investors lose and not the banks.
Allowing an existing homeowner to refinance the loan at a lower interest rate benefits the banks. The problem is the government has no understanding of this process and tries to force parameters for this instead of offering assistance. When you try to force settlements for political reasons instead of economic reasons the entire process falls apart.
Get the government out and the banks and investors would find the best solution. They just need the bank regulators to give them the leeway to accomplish the task. The biggest problem is bank regulators.
This should have been the first choice.
Apparently throwing out failing teachers can change a school for good.
Have the unions paid any attention to what the economy is doing this year? We are near the same place as fall of 2008, just before Las Vegas went empty. When the stock market loses 20% in one year the people coming to vacation and spend drop off a cliff. Now the hard times are hitting Asia even worse. The fall off in tourists in 2012 will exceed what happened in 2009. Hang on, this is going to be a much rougher ride than any before.
