""State funding for education has exceeded the rate of inflation plus the rate of growth in population in the last 10 years before the financial downturn."
I'd be curious to know where jfnance is getting this information from.
In any case, we're at the bottom of the list in education in Nevada--that's a fact
jfnance, it is NOT Rogers' budget. It is the universities' and colleges'. It is the education of our kids that is at stake, and this is a seious matter. Universities in Nevada are already grossly underfunded; cut the budget further and you will have an irreparable disaster.
KDR, read the letter carefully
Funny postings. I must say. If Jeff and Liz's take home monthly income is 3000, that is, after taxes, they MUST be able to find a way to make ends meet and live comfortably... It is totally doable. It is just a matter of planning and responsibility. I feel sorry for the circumstances these people go through, but we need to look at this from the positive side: there's something to learn, for the future: saving is always a good habit. Don't buy as many DVDs, don't go for the 2500 bedroo set, have only one dog, get a cheaper $25/month cable service... a dollar here and there saves a lot!

KDR, citing npri? who serves on the board of that? It's obvious to me that these people would not like to see *any* tax structure being changed in this state: too good for them , so far. The truth is: wild-west mentality , little government, low taxes, poor public services is not going to bring civilization or prosperity to our state. We're at the very bottom in every aspect having an effect on quality of life here: health, education, crime stats, you name it. We need change here in Nevada, NOW
