all fine and dandy for those families who can afford to have one parent not work and stay home to teach the children. or those who can afford private education. the rest of us are stuck with public schooling out of necessity.
On the lighter side, last year I received a letter from my HOA asking me (under threat of fine) to remove the "rock from rock landscaping", with a picture of the front of the house's rock landscaping. I'm assuming they meant "weeds". Never mind that it had just been gone over by the regularly scheduled gardener/landscaper who does most of the neighborhood (and he is their recommended choice). For fun I sent a copy of the photo and letter back and asked them to please circle the rock they did not like. :)
A person could argue that the effects of a crime such as this, (or weed), could be mitigated by legalizing, taxing, and regulating. This could help take the power and money way from the criminals, the cartels, human traffickers, forced prostitution, etc. Money could be made that could be put to use in helping treat people with their issues and prevention education. The benefits of legislating morality has always been of dubious value only seeming to be meant to limit freedom of choice rather than actually helping society.
FYI: there is a "gas guzzler " tax on some new cars , I know because I paid $1300 for it recently. Unfortunately like a lot of things green, the more we try to conserve (or try to drive less, or more efficient cars, or use less electricity) and save the more it ends up costing us - in privacy and $.
It may stink but you cannot enact a punishment until the alleged offender is found guilty. You also cannot leave the alleged offender in place performing duties until that outcome is decided. Especially when your duties involve criminal trials which could become possible mistrials. The presumption of innocence is on eof our core legal rights .
