You're right, the COT wasn't to blame for the falling lights since any group of cars going that fast would have the same effect. You could see the lights bounce as the cars went by and everyone knew it was just a matter of time before something came loose. The problem was with the lights, not the cars.
Mesquite may be closer, but what celebrity pool is there to draw from in Mesquite?
Given the way his move to Penske has turned out, I wouldn't be surprised if Kurt is considering a move. Check out his frequency the next time you attend a race. Very entertaining.
I briefly walked through the FanFest after the raced had ended, so I have no idea if a ticket is still required.
I'm going to Fontana, so I'll be able to give you a full report on the seating situation next week.
And let's hope there is a rivalry between Kyle and Carl, otherwise the Chase could end up becoming a boring snooze-o-rama if Kyle dominates at every track.
007_fan is right that Hendrick's move may go down as one of the worst decisions by an owner in the sport, but Kurt's decision to leave Roush for Penske may go down as one of the worst decisions by a driver.
Thanks,
Mike
You're right, it doesn't make sense. I also wonder what the real reason is.
Well, judging from some info I received today, it seems that IndyCar wants to hold down costs. It was also announced today that the final IndyCar race of the season will be held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
That's a good observation and it's one that I hadn't considered. Nevertheless, NASCAR is not a hobby. Flying model airplanes is a hobby. Nascar is a sport that pumps millions of dollars into the economies it visits and it also creates a countless number of jobs in the racing, auto, promotions and service industries.
Did you see Ryan's comment about Rusty? He said he was very familiar with Rusty's "personalities."
Couldn't find the bird shot at the time I posted this.

Fontana being in the Chase next year may make for an interesting event, unless one driver dominates the entire race again.
Maybe they should tear the track up and start over.
As for Kurt, I think he still has another year left on his contract. But that didn't stop him from getting out of his contract with Roush.
