There are several facts not being reported here by the journalist that would chill your spine. So, do not be so quick to judge. I bet he will prevail in his appeal. I find it laudable that Senator Nolan would stick his neck out for a long-time friend.
Contrary to the prosecution's allegations, the alleged victim was not passed out. She arrived home, walked upstairs, and said "good night" to her parents. There was no evidence of a struggle. There was no evidence of rape. At most, this was a sad mistake made by a man who believed there was consent. The alleged victim did not report it. She was only concerned about getting a morning-after pill. Rather, her girlfriend's mother reported it. They suppressed evidence that she lied to a nurse. The police "lost" the tapes of BOTH the victim and the accused; yet, was allowed to introduce transcripts of the alleged interrogation, even though such transcripts had gaps missing. I could go on and on. The point is that you should not believe everything you read, and there are ALWAYS two sides to every story, so don't be so quick to judge.
