What many posters seem to forget is that it is a buyers market right now. This is the perfect time for UNLV to be spending money. The university should be vigorously scrounging up money to secure the excellent faculty it has now and hire new faculty that will increase the university's academics and prestige.
This same outlook should be applied to building at the university. Construction costs are low and there is plenty of relatively inexpensive, experienced labor around the valley right now. Raise the money and build new dormitories (and make a mandatory 1 year stay on campus for all freshman), build a new stadium stadium on campus, etc.
This would be the perfect time for someone with vision to take UNLV to the next level.
What, has the BYU-Journal dba Review-Journal reduced itself to using ringers? Doesn't get enough readers for its monthly UNLV articles?
"why is everyone jumpin on dudes case for posting a relevant quote?"- Because its a competing publication! Seriously, why do you have to ask that?
Patterson seems like a classy (old school) type guy. I don't see him humiliating an opponent even if it would help slightly in the rankings. That said, 31 points is not "a million" by any means. So, 31 sounds EXACTLY right. I say the bookmakers got this one right and it is an even 50-50 and, therefore, not the bet to stake the ol' homestead on. That my un-biased opinion.
As for contributing to the dialogue, I think everyone is over-estimating how well TCU's pass rush will do against UNLV. So, I think the Rebs put up 17 in the first half. But, passing is all we have. TCU makes fixes at half and no more UNLV points. 37-17, TCU, sounds about right to me. Thats my biased opinion.
Ouch, even my biased opinion isn't that good for UNLV. Sorry Rebs, its not you- its your coach.
Bam, I feel the same way. I'm even done criticizing. This coaching staff (not the players- they have SO much heart) have made me indifferent. It really, really sucks to be a UNLV football fan.
They're not generic at all RebelAlum44. Last year only a few, traditional powerhouse basketball schools had these form fitting tops.
The question is- did UNLV get included in a small number of schools getting to wear this style or did Nike give these to all of their schools?
Ryan, do you have any idea how many schools got these types of uniforms (and how many in the MWC)? It would be cool to know.
"There were some things that happened in that game that was each individual guy not doing his job..."
----Yes!!! You were not doing YOUR job Sanford!
"I'm not concerned about that. I've gotta control the things that I can control," Sanford said. "That's out of my control."
----No!!! Attendance is in your control... run an adequate football team and fans will certainly show up!
Logic_should_rule, lol, you are a special kind of moron.
"...got all of 1 team in last year, Utah"?
The MWC conference received TWO bids at the last tournament. I mean, if your going to say something outrageous, at least get your facts straight.
And, jeez Miech, you're the best. But, correct these guys.
I'm always bewildered by idiot fans from opposing teams who trawl the web looking for articles to comment on before games. This reminds me of the (oh man) Kentucky basketball game.
I'm sure most Oregon State fans are great people who can't wait to see this game play out. "Studke" and "SonomaBeave," however, feel it necessesary to come onto the hometown newspaper and chastise UNLV fans for "talking trash" and correct (incorrectly) UNLV fan's comments.
If you don't want to hear UNLV fans supporting their team and getting excited about Saturday's game you should go to Google and type "Oregon State" there is enough smoke being blown up Oregon State @$$ by your own media to keep you busy until long after this game is over.
And Studke, although a win this weekend is nowhere near certain, it is certain that no UNLV player is going to piss their pants over anything OSU (Oregon- not Oklahoma) is bringing- even if the idiots over at ESPN or Portland State (lol) say we should.
There's some trash talking sucka!
"We see it more as an expectation now, where we were just pleased to be on the field with a Pac-10 team in the past, which really isn't impressive to me anymore."
Oh, haha. So awesome! That is the 100% perfect attitude. UNLV has all the tools and it IS as good as any Pac-10 team IF you and your teammates see it that way. I felt a huge sense of pride reading that. Thanks man.

I was there and, in my opinion, the court was not "stormed." Half the students from the student section walked down to the court to celebrate with the team. Seriously, people need to drop that. Especially, L'ville fans.
And, L'ville looked really good and played hard the entire game. UNLV just looked better. L'ville should be a top 25 team... and so should the Rebels.
