Why do they make a big deal of this with a special program name, etc? This is Policework 101! I served 30 years with Metro and when I was a patrol officer on dayshift we were expected to look for truants since they were frequently involved in criminal activity. They knew when folks were away from home and frequently committed thefts and burglaries.

I'm a retired Metro officer who was involved in a fatal shooting early in my career. I went through a Coroner's Inquest and I can tell you that even though my shooting was ruled justifiable, I was still scared to death that it wouldn't be. If I had faced an adversarial hearing, which appears to be what Mr. Sisolak and others support, I can assure you that I would have refused to testify and allowed the witnesses & forensic evidence to speak for me. If you want officers to quit cooperating and demand legal representation whenever they are involved in a shooting, make the changes. If you do, I would advise every oficer to refuse to open themselves further to litigation and refuse to testify under the 5th amendment.

No public funds should be used to build a house for multi millionaire owners and players. No city that has ever built a stadium has seen a return on their investment. If it's such a great deal, let the owners pay for it. If we are dumb enough to use public funds, we should institute a cap on how much residents, whose taxes paid for the stadium, will pay for a ticket.

So does this mean that the Governor is going to pay the bill for this lawsuit? Of course not, we the tax payers get stuck with the bill. Seems like an increase in taxes to me. I thought he said he wouldn't increase our taxes?

Yup, firefighters see horrific sights on the medical calls they respond to. However, their contract says that due to the shocking and traumatizing sights, they are sent home immediately after the response and another crew is brought in on overtime to cover the distressed firefighters remaining shift. Meanwhile the Metro and ambulance folks who actually handle the scene stay on shift and go to the next traumatic event. When will the RJ or Sun print the entire contract for the citizens to see all the fluff the overburdened firefighters are given?
