The renovation is great and the bartenders are very cool.
But I must say some of the signature drinks are awful compared to what one might expect from exotic "foo foo" drinks. I sampled the Green Gasser which was foul. It also blends alcohol
with an energy drink. You might love this kind
of thing but it is a good thing to be aware of.
Not so safe.
Even the staple Zombie tasted like it had cinnamon
in it. A Tiki that can't mix a decent Zombie?
If you want to game and get comped, forget it.
I was told for every $20 I could get a Budweiser.
In the end, the Tiki has a pre-selected clientele
of migrants from the Double Down. My guess is that this is going to wear off quickly as Frankie's
isn't exactly in the best "hipster" location.
The drinks aren't economical ($8 a hit--I was told
by the bartender that they are trying to change the atmosphere from the original Frankie's so there
really aren't any well drinks). I could see this for thier fancy pours--but they want $4 for a bud!
Not trying to be a hater--I wish them luck.
If I were Nostradamus I'd predict, "There is a
suckling sound from the profits of Double Down until owner must decide to kill the Polynesian
monster in order to save the Punk Paradise."
Frankie's used to be a place to drink for free with schizophrenics, quasi-homeless fresh out of UMC and gambling addicts who would blow through $100 in ten minutes and leave with their head in their hands all served up from a sarcastic bartender who mocked the customers.
This is going to be a tough transition once the "glow" wears off unless they start to figure out the neighborhood.
Oh, those were the days!
