I wish people would actually talk to the fire fighters and get there point like I have. First they have met the goals of the city when it comes to cutting the budget, yet the city wants more. They have already given up ther cost of living, which everyone forgets to mention. The main thing that everyone has forgoten is that all a municipality is responsible for is the health, saftey, and welfare of its citizens. Im sorry but there dosnt need to be a mob museum, new city hall, sports arena, or what else Oscar wants untill the core services are taken care of. The ones that are to blame are the county commision and the city councel for giving away the kitchen sink to the unions. If you have followed the comments from most of the unions in the paper it seems that the only problem is that the municipalitys keep changing there mind on what they want or they refuse to negotiate 2+2=4 last time I looked even though there are lots of differnt ways to get there. The city and county have constantly changed there figures and keep dwelling on decreased revenue, and saying look at the private sector. Have you been on the strip lately its packed, and if you follow the national news everything is on the way up. They say that property taxs are down, yet I still pay the same I did last year. If the banks that own the repos arnt paying there taxes then I suggest we go after them. Also there should be a closing of the tax loopholes for mining and gaming, they arnt going to go any where. The city and county need to stop writting checks and then forcing there employees to take cuts to pay for them. If you dont have the money dont build new parks, roads, buildings. If these 'leaders' were in the private sector they would all be fired for there actions. And for all of you that want to privatize everything think about this, a private company is responsable to its share holders while pubilc agencys are responsable to us. Try calling AMR,UPS,or any private company and getting something changed, they'll tell you to go somewhere else if you dont like it. Then call one of your public representitives at least they will look into things and possibly change them. The only true way to solve all these problems that we face is to cutt the fluff, and truly negotiate with labor. That is the only way things will turn out for the good. If consolidation of the Fire Departments is good for the community then so be it but if its not good for the citizens and only the bond rating for city hall then I think Oscar can pay for City hall if he so badly wants an new one. No one has ever answered the question what is wrong with the old one? Kinda funny that how much the city says they are in the hole is how much city hall costs........thinks that make you go hummmmmm.

Good Ole Oscar, grandstanding once again. Im sure the only ones that think its is a good idea are his friends with the chamber. He forgets one thing, that the city cant prove it is in finacial trouble. When you cant afford something you dont go out and spend 1 billion dollars building things and expect your employees to take cuts so you can have a new city hall, mob museum, parks, and of course a concert hall. Wake up Oscar this is Las Vegas not Oscarland, This right here is the reason that we have unions, to protect the employee from bosses like you. This aint the good ole days when if you didnt like someone you can strong arm them. Do whats right sit down with your employees and work out a deal thats why its called negotiations. And by the way why no mention about Metro they are your biggest expense. If you still want to fire everyone then fire yourself first and take your councel and managers with you. The city is better without you all.

Ok bringtherain you must be a sniviling punk that thinks its ok to shoot cops. Im sure the now deceased did nothing wrong oh boo hoo. If he was innocent then why did he have a gun and why did he shoot a cop. I think metro shows more restraint then they truly need. I work with them all the time and trust me I dont think any of them are looking to kill any one, but if it comes down to it then they do what they have to do. I know I feel better knowing that they have my back and are there when they are needed. And lastly the most important thing is how is the officer and his family doing. What we have to remember is we are all humans.
