Who "Slim" probably is shouldn't be that hard to figure out. There was a particular person that always was with Andre, shown on TV at matches etc, during this time. That same person may have had some run ins with the law as well. This isn't rocket science...just needs a little investigative journalism...
"Increases in the cost of corrections"- How about the cost cuts to corrections that they implemented in the Phoenix area? Tent camps and PB and Jelly sandwiches ought to bring down costs a bit.
"Medicaid"- Any med student that gets any type of financial aid needs to payback by working in low-income clinics for a couple of years. Keep people that are not in emergency situations out of the ER rooms and we decrease costs right away. What % of medicaid ends up going to care for illegals? I really don't know but figure it ought to be asked.
"and public employee pension plans also are challenging."- Funny how John seems to skip right past commenting on this at all. Much easier to go after the R's to change the tax base. (which of course will lay the groundwork for making it easier to continually raise taxes in the future)
Nobody in the private sector is given a pension anymore. Why is just a given that you get one if you work for the government? In the past you made less salary in government so you had to have the benefits to get anyone worth anything to work for you. That just isn't true anymore. Start fire, police etc at 35k per year w/o pensions and you will still have 1000's show up at each hiring fair.
"The Legislature has diverted unprecedented amounts of local government revenue to balance the state budget."- This was/is a joke and the leadership of the legislature should all lose their jobs over it. (by the way, why didn't John go after Buckley or Horsford about this? Oh yeah according to John its all the Gov's fault)
First you say that the national parties "only hope to take advantage of gullible Fourth Estaters willing to copy and paste their nonsense." and then you go on to say "But not one has provided any details of what should have been done. And when provided with evidence the stimulus is working -- check the stock market lately? -- they simply repeat their talking points."
You just willingly cut and paste the Dems nonnsense. A basic economist can explain the complete disconnect in the stock market and the overall economy. (Is Sands suddenly making huge money? Look at their stock price over the last year.)
The economy is terrible, (how about that unemployment rate?)it is not getting better it's getting worse and you are still carrying the Dems water with their weak talking points.
John you have missed the real question about Sandoval. The question is if Montandon gains because of this.
Montandon is a conservative that has won 3 elections in what is the most liberal municipality in the state. He has proved to be able to get cross-over votes and independents better than anyone in Nevada. He has to be regarded as the most serious of the candidates as a manager (look at North Las Vegas 14 years ago compared to today. Would you have believed it?)
You failed to look at a couple of races where the conservatives did win out. Rawson v Beers where Rawson had everyone onboard that Sandoval does and Beers won and look at Christensen winning in the general in a district that had a 5.5% advantage to the democrats, Obama won the district by 9% and his opponent was able to outspend him by 75k.(I use this race because the district is more like a congressional size with over 100k voters)
Conservatives that are still normal mainstream presentable folks can win in generals! It will be Montandon that benefits as republicans learn more about Sandovals politics.
