@cch1948... Allowing pets in hotels is a very lucrative business. Caesars is only following what the luxury chains (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, etc.)have been doing for years. $25-40 can almost double the daily rate being charged in some of those Casinos. Plus the pet owners are liable for cleaning fees if their dogs damage the room... an extra $250 to shampoo the carpet has a nice profit margin. Lastly people that travel with pets tend to be more affluent.

Justsayin... buffets are the least profitable dining outlet in a Casino... at best they can hope to breakeven... The artificially low price, means that the food costs are often 50% the revenue. Add in the unionized labor and the expense typically exceeds the revenue. Casinos often operate them as a loss leader to bring in customers but are finding that the value conscious buffet customer is typically not a big enough gamer to offset the loss.

Arthur Keith is a seasoned gaming veteran, prior to managing the Gaylord he spent many years working for Harrahs, when he left Vegas a few years ago he was VP of Hotel Ops at The Rio. My friends who have worked for him found him to be honest and caring and a great boss.
