Personally I'm turning a dark shade of purple holding my breath for a teaching position in Clark County. I missed being hired by one week before there was a hiring freeze. Great timing eh? Administration being top heavy happens in every single district in the US. They didn't scratch their way to the top to be making a two digit paycheck. In the district that I just left (Arizona) the Supers favorite saying was "Let's cut a few thousand here and then we can put it in my retirement fund."
I think this district is lucky to have so many employees on the support staff, but cutting positions to be place in other paid positions? Is that really a sound monetary decision?
Just take away the hiring freeze for teachers so we can prepare for the next joyous year of teaching the future scholars of America.
Yikes...I should have read some of the bloggings about CCSD before unrooting myself to try and obtain a teaching position in this district. Unfortunately, I think that the majority of districts are run in the same fashion. I have worked in several and most, if not all, of the problems stem from management or mismanagement. I think it is a sad scenario when a school district has so little in their fiscal budget that they can only afford to hire subs. So...who is ultimately responsible for the failing scores of the students. You certainly don't expect high scores from subs in a classroom. It is the domino effect.
At my district in Arizona we were always surprised at the number of new teachers coming into our district from Las Vegas. Now we know why!
Well that's great for teachers already in the district. What is going to happen with the hiring freeze? Will they be hiring qualifed teachers to take over the 600 positions being held by long term subs?

I too am in that pool of prospective teachers. This article stating that the freeze is over is not accurate. They are allowing the high school principals to fill positions that are in high demand (sped., math, science). In talking to a principal at an elementary school she is hoping that she gets the okay to begin interviewing next week. I don't know what level you are interested in teaching, but I'm crossing my fingers for elementary.
This is apparently a domino effect situation. Her boss is waiting for the go ahead from his boss who has get to get word from the man at the top.
Good luck.
