Okra: don't embarass yourself by claiming that Christianity is on par with Islam re violence.
Three points:
1. The occasional chastisement or wrath of God of the Old Testament is over 2000 yrs old and has no applicability to modern Christianity.
2. The "Christianity" of 100 AD - 1500 AD had little to do with the teaching and gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a manmade mixture of Christianity and paganism with a heavy dose of arbitrariness from an elite cleric. There was a definite falling away from the Gospel that Christ taught (Love God and love thy neighbor) The corruption and heavy handedness of this "Christianity" also has nothing to do with modern Christianity.
3. Killing others in the name of Christianity runs against the teachings of Christ. Killing others in the name of Islam conforms with and adheres to the teachings of the prophet Mohammed.
What is common thread among 30+ of the 40-odd terrorist organizations designated so by the U.S. Dept of State?
What is the common thread of the 4,000+ attacks on civilians around the world since 9/11 (suicide bombings in markets, cafes, etc.)
What is the common thread of the 5-6 attacks and foiled attacks (NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Ft. Hood) within the U.S. in 2009?
Islam is the common thread.
A sober analysis of this dysfunctional authoritarian political system is required vice wishful thinking that Islam is just like every other "religion".
The same Reid (and his sycophants) who declared that we had lost in Iraq when our citizens were on the ground fighting, dying and winning is making a big deal of an out of context chuckle.
Give me a break. Reid is done politically. Even if we conservatives are in the minority, all those who have practiced group and ethnic politics for decades, hold on; we are going to raise hell as the minority and you can pound sand.
Dan, you hit it spot on. The progressives are going to lose on this one. They haven't yet dumbed down our population enough to transform the best system in the world into socialized medicine which does not stand out anywhere in the world.
Sure Mr. Bostick; the same nuts who want the federal government to build cars, run our banking sector, provide us with quality health care and suck the vitality out of our economy and personal lives through taxation and regulation....................are going to dramatically impact the climate?
Look at the federal programs now in place for 40, 50, 60 years? Shouldn't we have a utopian world at this point after spending 100s of billions of dollars on social and development programs.
What arrogance and what a bunch of nuts! HANDS OFF MY CARBON FOOTPRINT!

Start by arresting the parents. If it takes DNA tests and investigations to find the fathers, find them and put them and their mothers in jail. Try them on child neglect.
While not a complete solution, sending the message that if you raise animals you will go to jail may put a small dent in the problem.
At least the other group responsible (parents) will be brought to justice.
