This question and answer is captured on a local newsreel (Channel 3). According to some students, President Clinton seemed as if he did not want to answer the question, but did after Governor Miller leaned over to explain the student's question to him.
No Comment? No comment?!?!
How many young Democrats died to make sure that people would have the right to vote when we were fighting for Civil Rights? How many young Americans died in battle because they believed in democracy?
I'm a lifelong Democrat, but I will abstain from the process before I will vote for a Democrat who has tacitly suppressed voter participation. How could Senator Reid - even if he supports Hillary, even if he is afraid of the Clintons, even if he loves his son - abandon a principal so basic?
I thought I would vote for the Democratic nominee, no matter who it was, but I will not vote for Hillary after this. And I will not vote for Reid if he cannot do better than no comment. I doubt my one vote matters to either of them, but it does matter to me.
Am I the only Democrat in Nevada who is ready to become independent in protest of the lemming-like way that Nevada's elected Democrats have lined up behind Clinton? Tonight, I was amazed to see 5,000 ordinary citizens wait hours in line to hear what Obama had to say at Del Sol HS, and stunned when I realized that not a single elected Nevadan was there to welcome him. Janet Napolitano flew in from Arizona to introduce him. The Democratic "elite" is missing the zeitgeist in Nevada. And by the way, having sat through 90 minutes of Barack Obama speaking and answering unscripted questions, I am no longer wondering whether he has the experience or the knowledge. His answers were thoughtful, direct, forceful, and nuanced. This is a smart guy, with enormous capacity to lead, and we Nevadans can be pivotal in moving our country past the bitterness of recent American politics.

Tell me, why did you get into politics again?

Bravo for Obama for doing what an organizer does - reaching out to people across traditional divides. Isn't it ironic that the Democratic machine in Nevada may benefit from the candidate that they tried so hard to cut off? I watched 5,000 people line up to hear Obama speak in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and nobody from the Democratic party leadership (in the city, county, or state) was there to welcome them.
Harry Reid - are you paying attention? Democrats want to win the whole enchilada, not just the nomination.
