They're looking to work at a hotdog stand not the bellagio bell desk -- give 'em a break.
And better to go in and apply for the job with your kids in tow than give up because you can't find a sitter.
Give them credit for trying to do the right thing.

Finally, an end to the "everyone should go to college" insanity.
Not every looser with a 3.0, decent SAT scores and no imagination should be going to a research university.
Now, if everyone wanted to go to college and major in chemistry or engineering ... well, that might be worth subsidizing.
Let colleges be more selective -- it'll be better for everyone.
