There was no honor in the way Palo played last night. Honor is not defined by winning or loosing. Palo exihibited the worse level of sportsmanship that I have seen in a long time. One player ejected early for throwing punches followed by a total of at least 5 unsportsman penalties - and those were the ones that were called. It was a shame, Palo has some real talent, but that talent is overshawdowed by their total LACK of honor. It is likely though that they played how they were taught, I place the blame on the coaches. Were the kids running up the score? No, the coaches are responsible for leaving in the first team until the forth quarter.
If banks are willing to write down a mortgage shouldn't they also be willing to write down a car loan? So the minute we drive that new car off the lot and it loses 20% of its value the bank should just let us have a new loan structure. Should grocery stores refund us money when our food goes bad after a few weeks and becomes worthless? How about our clothing, last years stuff is out of style - who is going to refund our money? Shouldn't we be protected from all our stupid purchases? Hell no, and banks should not be writing down mortgages!
Why do we assume the value of houses should be guaranteed to go up? We accept that very other major consumer purchase that we make immediately starts loosing value (even if we buy it on time).
This whole mess continues to ignor the fact that most of these people agreed to their loans - and most have not changed their financial circumstances - they just don't like the fact that their value has gone down - well boo hoo to you.
Be responsible!
The Yucca Mountain Project was never about safety. It has been governed by politics since the beginning. Yes, as a Yucca insider I will admit that Nevada got the short straw because they were politically weak - But that decision has nothing to do with whether the site is suitable or not - Yucca Mountain is suitable (other sites could very well have been suitable also). But please, don't try to argue that the site is being stopped because it is unsafe - there is too much real science to demonstrate otherwise.
This is just another example of politicians putting off decisions (and costs) to future generations to solve - a "not during my administration" cop out. For 50 years this country has put off a decision, Yucca Mountain was an answer for permanent disposal, NOT TEMPORARY STORAGE - yes, there are other answers but Congress picked Yucca Mountain as the path 20 years ago. I look forward to the wisdom to come from Washington on the new path. I look forward to how Washington will pay back the $20 billion collected to pay for the repository and the untold Billions in legal damages for canceling the program.
Unfortunately they have awoken too late. The project is hemorrhaging the brain trust of scientists and engineers that have been involved for decades - we can't just sit back and hope for more funding - we received the layoff notices and are looking for work.
This is Harry's plan to lower our taxes - if we are out of work, we don't have to pay as much in income taxes.
Harry has shown just how much he cares about the careers of all the scientists and engineers and is also being extremely helpful - he has added a link on his web page to the Nevada unemployment office.

Let me explain representative routes in terms you can understand. In the year 2020 you are to start monthly trips from Maine to Nevada. Now, 11 years in advance of you must specify the exact route that you will take. Every segment of road, every interstection - including the ones that don't exist today - that is what the State wants DOE to do. Can you do it? Remember you will have to take that exact same route once a month for 20 or more years! Now why do you think the DOE can do it?
The State has documented scientifically to risks of transportation? All they did was take the DOE analysis and tweek it (by selecting higher risk routes) so the overall risk would come out higher.
Obviousely Democratic lawmakers haven't read the agencies most recent posting. Everyone is encouraged to check out http://www.state.nv.us/nucwaste/licensin.... Read how close the agency is to winning any litigation. Specifically, browse DOE's response to the States "legal case" against yucca mountain.
Come on people, let the NRC do their job.
The agency is a joke and always has been.
As usual, failure to put in perspective.
Near? How far is near? This 1 in 125 applies to a hypothetical person living at a worst case point on the map that is 11 miles due south of the repository. Care to guess how many residents there are at that location? Amargosa Valley is the closest "town" and has a population of less than 1000, none of which reside at this worst case point on a map.
This 1 in 125 does not apply to Nevada, it doesn't apply to Las Vegas, it doesn't apply to Clark County, it doesn't apply to Pahrump, it applies only to a very specific point on a map. Move 10 miles away from that point and the risk of additional cancer statistically disappears.
What is the risk of this hypothetical person dying from cancer without Yucca Mountain? 29 in 125. So, the increased risk of dying from cancer caused by Yucca Mountain is 3 percent. But again, this only applies to this hypothetical person, not to anyone living in Las Vegas!
Is there are risk? Yes, there is. There are risks in everything we do. We need to judge whether it is an acceptable risk based on the benefit of removing all the waste scattered across the country and permanently disposing of it.
Reid's reaction raises just one question: what sort of standard would Reid have been happy with? The calculations show the dose will fall well below the 100 millirem! Would 50 millirem have been low enough? Well, the calculations show the dose will fall below 50 millirem. How about 15 millirem? Huh, how about that Harry? Well now, the calculations show the dose will fall below 15 millirem also!
The bottom line it is easier for Harry to just blast the EPA for establishing an unsafe standard without trying to explain what sort of standard Harry would find safe. Why doesn't he express a standard? Because that isn't his issue! It is all about stopping the repository REGARDLESS OF THE SAFETY! This is the same reason his draft dodging, english major, hippy wanabee, thiefing crook, Bobby Loux and his team never come out with scientific facts - fear mongering headlines without scientific substantiation is their chosen path, always has been and always will be.
One more of the state's so called major scientific issues with the Repository is put to rest. 100 millirem won't stop the license application from being approved.
What is the next non-issue will that will come out of former bob's team of clowns?

My prior comment did not seek any sypathy for Faith Lutheran - no question Palo had the better team. The comment chain is about honoring a coach. Based on the comment from the former Palo parent - the team did just what the former coach would have wanted. Sorry for the families lose, but his passing will be better for high school football.
Hate Palo? No! Hate any football program with the lack of honor that Palo exhibited - every day of my life.
