dipstick - "look at JFK holding off pulling out american troops from vietnam until his re-election."

You were a history major, weren't you?

"This shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp: Cut the debt with a combination of tax increases and spending cuts. To this point, proposals that include that combination have been shot down."

It should be easy to grasp the reality that our government does not need more money. That's just not the problem. Excessive spending is how we got here. We need to reverse that. Period.

Well Carolyn. You and your fellow liberals still think the problem in D.C. is a lack of revenue.

And now you'd like us to believe the Constitution bans members of congress from promising to act responsibly.

There's liberalism and then there's reality.

VidiVeritas - You told just the portion of the story that suits you - that's called spinning. Then you accused others of spreading misinformation ???

> Ronald Reagan's First Term -- $656 billion increase

> Ronald Reagan's Second Term -- $1.036 trillion increase

> George H.W. Bush's Term -- $1.587 trillion increase

> Bill Clinton's First Term -- $1.122 trillion increase

> Bill Clinton's Second Term -- $418 billion increase

> George W. Bush's First Term -- $1.885 trillion increase

> George W. Bush's Second Term -- $3.014 trillion increase

> Barack Obama's First "Year" -- $1.573 trillion increase

To summarize, the National Debt increased by huge amounts under each of these presidents. The largest increase for a complete term occurred during George W. Bush's second term. The largest increase during a single year occurred during Barack Obama's first year.

So you prefer that huge additional debt be piled on us by one party rather than the other? Bashing Republicans may be justified, but are you trying to convince us that Democrats have been more fiscally responsible? Or, just what is your point?

"Kennedy was haunted by that tragic accident, and he spent his entire life trying to do right for the working class, the elderly, the handicapped, the poor."

If his extreme liberalism isn't bad enough, how about alcoholism, philandering, waitress sandwiches???

Yes he spent his life trying to do right. And what planet are you from?
